ESPN fires Harold Reynolds
ESPN has fired former baseball player and current analyst Harold Reynolds. Harold was a very likable guy and my favorite analyst on Baseball Tonight.
No reason is being given by ESPN for the firing.
“We are not going to comment,” ESPN VP Josh Krulewitz said.
When asked how they are going to explain that Reynolds will never be on the air again, Krulewitz still declined comment.
Reynolds had been with ESPN for eleven years and one of its most popular personalities. John Kruk and Reynolds were a great tag team for viewers. Something very bad must of gone down for ESPN to fire Harold. Hopefully it was not over something too serious and life altering for him.
Baseball Tonight is still dealing with the loss of Peter Gammons who is recovering from a brain aneurysm.
The latest rumor I have heard is that Harold was drunk on ESPN NEWS. That is just a rumor so take it for what it is worth.
Update: It appears that Harold was fired over a sexual harassment charge according to the New York Post and according to Reynolds who has come out swinging and wanting his job back.
After being accused of sexual harassment and fired by ESPN, former “Baseball Tonight” analyst Harold Reynolds said yesterday he doesn’t think he did anything wrong and is still hoping to regain his job.
“This was a total misunderstanding,” Reynolds told The Post. “My goal is to sit down and get back. To be honest with you, I gave a woman a hug and I felt like it was misinterpreted.”
The woman who accused Reynolds of the sexual harassment is an ESPN co-worker, according to sources.
Newsday followed up saying it was a pattern of sexual harassmentand not just one incident.
Three people who work at ESPN and were familiar with the case said the cause was a pattern of sexual harassment, apparently culminating in a recent incident involving one of the network’s young production assistants.
Reynolds is not the first to be accused of sexual harrasment at ESPN.
Among the prominent ESPN personalities accused of improper behavior in the past is Mike Tirico, who will debut as the play-by-play man for “Monday Night Football” in the coming season. He was suspended by ESPN in 1992 for what were reported at the time to be allegations of sexual harassment. Another host, Jason Jackson, was fired in 2002, reportedly for harassment.

Harold Reynolds was a good athlete and a good announcer. I hope he gets reinstated. People look for anything to cause trouble when another person is doing a great job.
