John Travolta was a sex idol to millions of women and men in the late 1970’s and early 80’s. He had killer dance moves and a tight lean body that made the women swoon.  That was then, this is now.

Here is the ever-loving wife excuse.

Travolta says his wife, 43-year-old actress Kelly Preston, finds his fuller figure attractive.

He has also said that life is ‘too short’ to diet constantly and that food is one of his greatest pleasures. “I know I have a love handle or two, but I’m lucky that at this stage in my career, it’s not hurting the work I do. And my wife loves the extra meat on me.”

Yeah right! We almost believe you John.

And he appears relieved that he no longer faces pressure to maintain the athletic frame which wowed the women in such early films as Saturday Night Fever and Staying Alive.

“I often look back at those days with fondness,” he says. “But I don’t think I’d dare even try to wear those outfits now. I love my food.”

John blames part of his girth on a sympathy pregnancy from years ago.

Travolta even admits that he put on more weight than his wife when she was expecting their child.

“At the time Kelly was pregnant I gained 25lb,” he said.
