Reggie Bush fined for Adidas Cleats

Dynamic New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush was fined by the NFL on Monday for wearing illegal cleats in the Saints preseason win over the Tennessee Titans in Nashville.

If you play in the NFL you get to pick between Nike and Reebok for your feet. If you wear another brand you must tape over the logos or be fined.  A very dumb rule.

The NFL objected to the No. 2 overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft wearing his new Adidas cleats. The league only allows players to wear Nike or Reebok shoes during games because of a marketing partnership.

Both Bush and the top pick in the draft, defensive end Mario Williams of North Carolina State, have signed endorsement deals with Adidas. The shoes in question are black with gold highlights and logo.

The fine was thought to be $10,000, but Bush, the 2005 Heisman Trophy winner, originally said he was unsure of the total. He confirmed the fine after Monday’s afternoon practice.

Reggie showed flashes of greatness against the Titans. The Titans appeared to stop Bush behind the line on one play, but Bush reversed field and took off down the right sideline for a 44 yard gain. On another run he leveled Titans defensive back Pac-man Jones.

If I were adidas I’d tell him to keep wearing the cleats and pay the fine… there’s only like 20 games, and that’s alot of publicity

Leveled Pac-man…really? It looked more like Reggie got stopped in his tracks. You probably enjoyed ESPN’s fellatio of USC before they got their asses beaten by a better team. Come on, people. He’s not that great of a running back in the NFL.

and after x amount of infractions I’d scale the punishment for flaunting the rules and suspend him.

That’s crazy. How much is the NFL making from Nike and Reebok?
Isn’t this America? I think players should be able to wear whatever name brand they want. By only allowing Nike and Reebok they drive up the prices on those brands and they are all made in the Philippines by kids for 10 cents a day, with a bigger mark up than jewelry.

i wear land sharks, cheap and good, it’s incredible because only with these i am able to cut .3 seconds off my forty, getting me to a 4.95 and thats why i am a starting receiver, nike cleats are better in high school and college football, maybe it changes when u turn pro, who knows?
