6.6 magnitude earthquake rocks Hawai’i.  All of the islands lost power at some point. Local reports have it measured at 7.4.  When I was in Maui five days ago I was wondering what would happen if an earthquake hit there.  I wish it was still a thought. 

The Pacific Tsunami Center reported a preliminary magnitude of 6.5, while the U.S. Geological Survey gave a preliminary magnitude of 6.6. The earthquake was followed by several strong aftershocks, including one measuring a magnitude of 5.8, the Geological Survey said.

Blakeman said there was no risk of a Pacific-wide tsunami, but there was a possibility of significant wave activity in Hawaii.

The first openly gay Congressman has died. Don’t laugh but his name was Gerry Studds.  He was 69.

A school principal in Minnesota could be charged after he shot and killed two orphaned kittens on school property last month.

Wade Pilloud, who resigned as principal of the K-12 Indus school, 40 miles west of International Falls, said he shot the kittens to spare them from starving to death after their mother was killed in an animal trap.

The incident happened Sept. 21, and several students still on the grounds for after-school activities heard the shots.

Thirty-one football players from Miami and Florida International have been suspended after a fight broke out during Saturday nights football game.  Players were using helmets and crutches as weapons durying the melee.

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia claims the U.S. Constitution is silent on abortion.

He said unelected judges have no place deciding politically charged questions when the Constitution is silent on those issues.

“Whether it’s good or bad is not my job. My job is simply to say if those things you find desirable are contained in the Constitution,” he said.
