House star and TV heartthrob Hugh Laurie was spotted in a sailboat at Marina del Ray last week looking extremely depressed and gloomy. Hugh was recently voted the ‘Sexiest Man on Television’. He plays the talented but troubled Dr. Gregory House on the Fox show. The Brit makes around $200,000 per episode.

But a one-time depression sufferer, Laurie has admitted to struggling with fame and adjusting to his new lifestyle.

Only last week, he gave an insight into his unhappiness, saying: “There are days when I actually lose it and it is not pretty.

“I’m not proud to say that I punched a door recently.

“The sheer volume of work, my struggles with the American accent, trying to keep the energy up for 12-14 hour stretches, can be draining and overwhelming.”

Laurie went on to discuss the pain of being away from his wife and three children that still live in London.

He also recently spoke of his loneliness and frustration of having to live away from his family.

“I wasn’t prepared for this at all,” he said. “But I don’t really have a life outside of this bubble.

“We can finish filming between midnight and 4am. Then I’m straight back to bed. It’s not really a life, actually.

“If this had happened ten years ago, when my kids were small, it would have been very easy maybe to just yank them out of school and put them in school here.

“It’s tragic - I’m an absentee father. But now they’re teenagers and they’ve got their own life and it’s tough to drag them out.

“We continue to look for signs that would allow us to be together.”
