‘American Idol’ Recap: Bon Jovi Night
Aging softie and former Heavy Metal wannabe (he finally has realized he is a rock or pop rock singer) Bon Jovi was the mentor this week on American Idol. I didn’t catch all of the show but from what I saw I thought everyone did a pretty good job this week. If I had to vote someone off as the weakest performance last night it would probably be LaKisha Jones. The other five I thought did a good job.
Phil Stacey A+ -He seems to be a locomotive that is out of control and only gaining steam as he goes….in a good way. Phil improves each week and his confidence is starting to show in his strong performances.
LaKisha Jones C -She wasn’t bloody bad but she sounded the exact same as she does on every single song. I think she is gone in the voting this week when combined with last week (when I thought she was the worst as well).
Blake Lewis A- -He did his thing and in my opinion totally over did it. Not every song in the world was meant for beat-boxing. Before he got to that point I had thought that he totally rocked it and was my favorite performance by him so far.
Melinda Doolittle- B -She had a lot of attitude and tried hard to make the song ‘Have a Nice Day’ (a very lousy song that shows the horrific condition of today’s music scene) into something powerful with balls. The good part is that she did, while I would say the sad part is she put more balls on that song that Bon Jovi did.
Chris Richardson- B+ -He does a pretty good job every week. This week was really no different. He came across strong, powerful and soulful on ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’.
Jordin Sparks- A+ -I only got to see the recap of her performance. It looked pretty amazing from what little I did see of it.
