Top 3 all Shine on ‘American Idol’
I once again missed American Idol last night due to travel and logistics restraints but Lexie over at Backseat Cuddler was kind enough to do the following review for me.
I think it’s a tough call for this round of American Idol. Jordin Sparks, Blake Lewis and Melinda Doolittle pulled out all the stops last night. It was probably the best Top 3 show to date. Each contestant sang three songs, one picked by the judges, one by the producers and one by the contestant.
Jordin Sparks – A  Jordin did a wonderful, jazzy rendition of her first song, “Wishing on a Star,â€? which Simon picked, but really heated things up with the producers’ lame pick “She Works Hard for the Money.â€? Her final choice was “I Who Have Nothingâ€? which cinched her place in the final two.
Blake Lewis – A   Blake went totally beatboxless in Paula’s pick, “Roxanneâ€? and proved he doesn’t need a gimmick. The producers picked Maroon Five’s “This Love,â€? an excellent choice to showcase Lewis’ talent, and once again, he kept the beatboxing at bay, using only a sprinkling. His own choice was Robin Thicke’s “When I Get You Homeâ€? and in my opinion, he won’t be going home this week.
Melinda Doolittle – A  Randy’s choice for Melinda was Whitney Houston’s “I Believe in You and Meâ€? and Ms. Doolittle has consistently made us believe in her. The producers picked Tina Turner’s “Nutbush City Limitsâ€? and once again, she proved she’s got moxy. Her own pick was “I’m a Woman,â€? which, if I’m not mistaken, she sang once before on the show.
As I said, all three contestants brought their “A game, but someone has to go home tonight. Although it’s a close call, I believe we will be saying goodbye and goodnight to Melinda.
I hope its goodbye to Blaker.
