Ronald Reagan on Appeasement
I think it’s safe to say, regardless of which side of the political aisle you reside on, that they don’t make politicians like they use to. In the clip you hear a powerful and young Ronald Reagan talking about the very severe threat of communism and the cold war in 1964. He speaks with words and passion unlike anyone currently in the politically arena. He wouldn’t reach the White House for 36 more years. He was a pretty good actor as well.
Appeasement is a policy of accepting the imposed conditions of an aggressor in lieu of armed resistance, usually at the sacrifice of principles. Usually it means giving into demands of an aggressor in order to avoid war.
