420 Temple Reverend Pleads Guilty to Drug Charges

Reverend Craig X. Rubin has plead guilty to dealing marijuana to his church congregation.  He is the leader of the 420 Temple in Los Angeles.

Rubin and some 400 members of his church believe marijuana is a religious sacrament and burn and smoke pot during services.

He said he won’t appeal his conviction.

“If my society believes I’m a danger and a threat, it’s better off without me,” he said in a telephone interview. “Hopefully people will be nice to me inside. I barely ever had a ticket before.”

He has been featured on several episodes of the Showtime show ‘Weeds’.

I did not plead guilty…I am not guilty….I was found guilty by my peers, but I was not allowed to use the RFRA, a federal law that protected my actions.

My friends will appeal the ruling.

it is strange…I am allowed to smoke pot and work at a medical marijuana club, but I can’t have a church that does the same thing.
