Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Eulogy of Merv Griffin
Arnold Schwarzenegger delivered the eulogy at Merv Griffin’s funeral on Friday in Beverly Hills. It was a lot like Merv, short, sweet, and filled with humor.
“I was on his show many times — I was on to teach him about fitness, and he would teach me about acting. Well, none of that worked,” he joked. “His mission was to do everything he could to make you look good,” Arnold continued.
“Merv wanted you to do well, and that’s the kind of person Merv was. No wonder that everyone said yes when he asked them to be on his show.
“And talk about genius. … Anything he touched turned to gold. [But] he was not into making money … he was more about giving. He was an incredibly generous philanthropist, also.
“He lived life to the fullest. … Nothing seemed to get him down, and his enthusiasm couldn’t help but rub off on anyone around him. He loved to see his friends be successful. Merv was the most optimistic person ever. He always said anything can be done.
“Merv always brought so much joy to everyone around him. … We will always miss him.”
Senior citizens for generations to come will be thankful for Merv’s creation of the game show Wheel of Fortune.
