Matt Damon Named ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ by PEOPLE Magazine
PEOPLE magazine has named actor Matt Damon as its ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ for 2007. Others on the list included Ryan Reynolds, Patrick Dempsey, Brad Pitt, James McAvoy, Johnny Depp, Dave Annable, Will Smith, Javier Bardem, Shemar Moore, Ben Affleck, Adrian Grenier, Will Yun Lee and Justin Timberlake.
Most of those selected are well deserving but I am curious as to how Ben Affleck comes close to making this list. Was it a package deal with buddy Matt Damon. Did Matt say I am not accepting this honor unless you put my Boston homeboy Affleck on the list?
The ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ honor seems to just rotate among the same group of Clooney, Pitt, Damon and Depp. Damon is good looking but the sexiest man alive?

You have got to be kidding. Damon is alright, but there are a ton of better candidates for the job. Brett Farve, Tom Brady, Bono, Johnny Depp, etc. Oh well, makes you wonder what kind of people are doing the choosing for People
I think People needs to branch out from it’s generic approach to naming A-listers as the sexiest men alive when there are far more atypical picks that might draw just as much attention, if not more, to its cover. Why not pull names from, say, famous artists, writers, or directors? Check out the directors on hungryman.com. There’s plenty of sexy to go around AND their incredibly talented.
I would guess that the people choosing for People are the same people who write for People
So….not exactly using a fair and balanced official tribunal for their “guys who have physical features that are appealing to humans at this stage in their evolution.”
Ben Affleck has actually been on the list several times over the years. He was, in fact, PEOPLE MAGAZINE’S SEXIEST MAN ALIVE for 2002.
