Hallelujah: Les Miles Leaves LSU for Michigan
Hallelujah, it’s the holiday season, and LSU Tigers football fans just got an early gift today on the report that head football coach (<)Les Miles is leaving the state of Louisiana to become the new head ball coach at the University of Michigan.
Herbstreit is also reporting that Miles will make Georgia Tech defensive coordinator and interim head coach Jon Tenuta part of his staff at Michigan.
Miles, who played at Michigan and served two stints as an assistant under the late Bo Schembechler, will succeed Lloyd Carr, who stepped down after the Wolverines’ loss to Ohio State last month.
Michigan is getting ‘Fool’s Gold’. The majority of LSU fans are ecstatic that Miles is leaving for his alma mater. He has underperformed as LSU’s coach despite the team’s record. The team is the most talented in the country yet they played worse every week of the season.
Les Miles shouldn’t have got the LSU job in the first place. He was very mediocre as a coach at Oklahoma State with a conference record there of 16-16. This works out great for LSU because now they can get to hire a new coach to replace the mistake they made in hiring Miles three years ago.
Les Miles Career Coaching Record
- Oklahoma State 28-21 (16-16 Big 12)
- LSU Tigers 32-6 (19-6 SEC)
- Total 60-27
