Roger Clemens Screwed by Congress

Roger Clemens is sweating bullets tonight instead of throwing them as he has for the past twenty years. Clemens, along with buddy Andy Pettitte and former trainer Brian McNamee, have been asked to testify before Congress.

Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte were asked Friday to testify before a congressional committee on Jan. 16, along with their former trainer, Brian McNamee.

Also invited to appear before the House Oversight Committee were former Mets clubhouse attendant Kirk Radomski, whose allegations were a central part of last month’s Mitchell report on doping in baseball.

The Rocket has been denying, for almost two weeks now, that he took steroids or Human Growth Hormone. He reiterates his denials on 60 Minutes Sunday night and ’swears’ he has never taken performance enhancing drugs (PED).

Roger stated that he was injected with B-12 and Lidocaine today by McNamee.

Clemens will be put in a very tough spot if he has to testify before Congress. If he lies to Congress he could get serious jail time for perjury. If he refuses to testify to Congress he could be held in contempt and the court of public opinion would assume it was a confession of PED use.

Won’t vote, because it doesn’t matter. Face it, profession “sports” are not sports, rather forms of entertainment. We want to see the ball thrown harder, faster, we want the “athletes” or performers to run faster, for longer, etc.

Do I believe that it is safe to use most (PED’s) - heck no, but I do admit that they do increase ticket sales - and bottom line is what it’s all about anyway. How else can we justify as a society paying people 7 figures to play a game?
