Jim Fassel is the Redskins Mystery Coaching Candidate

Fox Sports senior NFL writer Jay Glazer has revealed that Jim Fassel is the mystery candidate that could become the new head coach of the Washington Redskins.

Sources say former Giants head coach Jim Fassel on Monday conducted his second interview for the Redskins head coaching job.  Fassel originally interviewed a couple weeks ago when team brass flew to Arizona.

At this point, Fassel and defensive coordinator Gregg Williams are in the running.

Fassel coached the New York Giants from 1997-2003 compiling a record of 58-53-1.  He led the Giants to the Super Bowl in 2000 where they lost to the Baltimore Ravens.

If I am picking between Fassel and Williams then I’d be taking Fassel.  Williams had very little success as the head coach of the Buffalo Bills.  Williams was 17-31 as a head coach.  He is currently an assistant coach for the Redskins.
