Max Baer Jr.’s Girlfriend Chere Rhodes Commits Suicide

Max Baer, Jr. - Beverly Hillbillies

Chere Rhodes, girlfriend of former actor Max Baer Jr., shot herself in the chest and died several days later according to Lake Tahoe authorities. Baer is famous for playing ‘Jethro Bodine’ on the syndicated classic TV show ‘The Beverly Hillbillies’.

Baer, 70, an entrepreneur who played “Jethro” in the 1960s “Hillbillies” series, summoned authorities to his Lake Tahoe home last Thursday after he found Rhodes with a single gunshot wound to the chest, Halsey said.

“She was conscious on the scene and told [officers] that it was a self-attempted suicide,” Halsey said. “There was a suicide note as well, which substantiated her statement.”

He said the handwritten note cited “relationship problems.”

Baer’s father, the late Max Baer, Sr., was one of the more famous boxers of all-time. The movie Cinderella Man is based on his life. Baer, Jr. has been on record as saying the film distorts his father’s image in a negative and false light.

Baer wrote, directed, and produced several successful films before retiring to the slopes of Lake Tahoe.

Chere had the most angelic smile anyone could have ever seen. She was very child-like in many ways.

This woman was obviously very ill. I feel bad for poor Max Baer, Jr. He’s always been one of the sweetest guys on TV. I hope that he always keeps his optimism for life and understands that this woman was to blame. Nobody is holding any of us as a prisoner. The entire idea of killing herself over a failed relationship is 100% crazy. Especially is she had children. Some people are self-centred and only think about themselves. She obviously wasn’t thinking about her children.

Max Baer Jr/ Came across Memrobilla from your life in Sacramento, when your Dad and My Dad were great friends with Eddie and Bill David on Riverside Blvd. and you and I were Tap Dancing partners under the directon of Marion Hall. I will never forget your Dad driving his convertible with the top down. He always offered my Mother and myself a ride to our destination instead of the street car, but my mother would refuse politely as your Dad was not wearing his shirt . This was when you were living on 11th Avenue on the Corner of Riverside Blvd. It would be
    fun to talk again
