In the Midst of a Tornado

Hail from Jackson, TN Tornado Baseball Size

Currently our family is in the middle of a series of tornadoes. The first series just grazed us and did the most damage at the university a mile away. We more than likely have damage to our home from the high winds and BASEBALL size hail. No Joke! I will try to provide photos tomorrow God willing (have some in the freezer).

Several pockets of the city and nearby towns are getting hit really hard.

There is reportedly more coming. I have to make calls and check on some friends and family.

The tornado has hit down around Memphis and Jackson, Tennessee.

Union University in Jackson has sustained the most damage from the twister. Students are trapped underneath the dorms.

Round 1 is over. I will try to update this post throughout the comments below.

    Still doing ok.
There are still three male college students trapped under the rubble.

They have been trapped for over 4 hours now.

Originally it was 13 students trapped.

I saw some pictures of campus on the news. Looks pretty rough. Gas explosion in Trousdale County that we can see here in Lebanon 25 miles away. Not a good night for TN . Be safe Holmes

Looks like we’re getting it today! Hopefully we won’t blow away, but this retro complex we live in probably isn’t the best place for us to be right now! What are you supposed to do during a tonado, anyway? The only thing I can remember is put a textbook on your head….

    textbook on your head?
Lots of things to be preventive….
Try to get in a room or closet on first floor with no windows.
Take lots of pillows and blankets.
    Bottled water.
    Many more….
A google search can probably provide a lot more helpful hints.

Just got back in from being out in all of the damage. Have some very horrific photos of some homes and the college I will be trying to upload in a bit.

Our home has a couple of busted windows, probably some minor roof damage and some minor damage to siding on part of the house.
