Last week Auburn student Lauren Burk was tragically murdered near the University campus.  Courtney Lockhart is the man who has been arrested and charged with capital murder of Burk.

Lockhart is also facing charges for armed robbery and assault after he kidnapped a 72-year-old woman near Atlanta, Georgia, hours before he killed Burk.

Courtney Lockhart faces charges in Georgia that include armed robbery, aggravated assault and kidnapping in connection with the Wal-Mart incident, Newnan Police Deputy Chief Rodney Riggs said Sunday evening.

These are in addition to the capital murder and other charges Lockhart faces in Alabama in connection with the slaying of Burk, an 18-year-old Marietta resident.

Innocent until proven guilty but this is looking like a slam dunk for prosecutors in Georgia and Alabama.

College students have to be careful in dealing with strangers and looking out for their safety.  When I was in college I was robbed in my apartment at gunpoint with a gun at my head by two teen punks.  They were drugged out and looking for money to buy more drugs.  They got all $4 bucks in my wallet and my completed Subway card (for a free Subway sandwich which I had worked two hard years on).  Luckily I survived but totally saw my life flash before my life in a matter of a few quick seconds.

People who do heinous crimes like this are obviously idiots robbing college students.  Like in my case the kid got seven years for those four bucks.  College kids are poor.  It’s why they watch discount movies, eat Macaroni and wear the same t-shirt 3x a week.
