I can’t rate that photo using that scale. If you DID NOT KNOW that they were father and daughter, you would have to think it was pretty well shot - nice composition, “cute couple” factor, etc. Knowing they are father and daughter is what makes it “squicky”.
The picture - as a picture - gets a B from me. The knowledge of the relationship of the people in the picture gets the “theme” earns a D - she is WAY too much of a “Daddy’s girl” there.
I would never pose with my dad, ever, not even like that…it seems really really sick!
Actually, this picture says it all. Dad looks away towards the glow of the almighty dollar while his daughter engages in behaviors and seductions far beyond her age and her understanding.

There REally Close Leave Them Alone
I can’t believe how Puritanism still runs rampant in the US, even after all these years! This is a very nice photo of a father and daughter who love each other and have a very close relationship– which, sad to say, is just not very common anymore– and which explains all the violence, killings, shootings and other atrocities in the US today. Kids, for the most part, just don’t have a relationship with their parents anymore, and end up lashing out against society for the lack of love, caring and INTEREST in them!!! Open your minds, America! And stop being so judgemental!!!

OK, photos can be art, but come on…they are just too mature looking for a Disney pop star. Her parents and/or guardians are just plain stupid for letting her take these photos. Also Vanity Fair is always publishing photos that are sexy so you should know what you are getting involve with when you say yes. I also think the the magazine purposely wanted the photos to sell the magazine. Really, were the photos necessary ….no. Children and teens are not buying this magazine. I had to explain the photos to my daughter who is seven so I am upset. My husband was so mad that he do doesn’t want her to watch the show anymore because kids grow up too fast these days. What was her family thinking? I could she doing it to help transition her career maybe when she is 18, but not at 15. I hope Disney cancels her show, but they won’t because it generates income. I however will not be buying anymore Hannah products.
i think the pic is not as bad as everyone is making it. In fact i’ve looked at all the pic of miley that is the talk and none of them are that bad. what i do believe is that if you people dont leave her alone she is gonna end up like britney spears, or like one of the other girls superstars that are either in jail or drug rehab. We can’t presuppose the kind of relationship Billy Ray has with Miley. However, my thought is that if photos of this nature were posted or passed around of “average” folks, whether there was anything inappropriate going on or not, some would start to talk, and I suspect the law (i.e. CPS) would become involved. I’m not saying this response would be right or wrong; it’s just what would probably happen.
I don’t believe the photos of Billy Ray and Miley were taken to hang on the living room wall. It would appear they were taken to be published to sell magazines–and Vanity Fair is published for an adult audience, not for the audience by which Miley (Hannah Montana) is idolized. Pity the parents who have to explain this to their children.
Im sorry but in the real world dads and daughters shouldnt ever been seen in a photo like that. Her daddy needs to take her back to fraklin tn. Beautiful work of art between Miley and her dad. It’s sad, society views good touch as a bad thing between father and daughter. It’s wonderful seeing a caring and loving relationship between father and daugher. If more dads showed affection towards their teenage daughters, our society would be much better and there would be less teenage pregnancies.

Although I think this picture is extremely inappropriate and disgusting (I would NEVER pose with my daughter like that), I do believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt and acknowledging the fact that we all do things we might later regret. There is no doubt in my mind that Billy Ray is a good guy and an excellent father, and he would never have done this if he knew how the picture would appear to others. And Destiny Hope (er, I mean Miley) is still a little kid, and all of us made mistakes as kids.

The picture wouldn’t be as bad if miley wasn’t involved with disney as much as she is. Maybe if she was wearing a shirt that covered her stomach it might look better. I just that when people think of miley they think disney and Hannah Montana and that is why all of these pictures are looked at so negatively. You can tell she’s trying to get away from that but how can she get away from the onething that made her famous?
I don’t think the photo is that bad. Nothing wrong with a father and daughter showing affection. However, I think the problem most people have is how they are positioned. If they were sitting side by side with arms around each other in a hug no one would bat an eye. but the disturbing part is they way sheis draped across his legs and seens to have a bit of a “vixen” look to her. Granted for her age many girls are dressing more provocatively and more suggestive than she is but that she is being posed this way across her father is a bit weird. Individually they are both fine although I would like to see her a bit more age appropriate but compared to someone like Britney spears at the same age she is absoutely tame. I think the photographer was going from something a bit edgier but should have kept in mind this is father and daughter and kept any sexual energy or suggestiveness out of hte photo. I do not think that because they posed this way they were incestuous in real life. Now come on. I think it was as business decision and they didn’t realize how the photos would come across but mostly they were not thinking of Miley’s target audicence (children). While Vanity Fair is not a kids magazine they had to realize that the photos would be seen by children and her fans as well. So they learned to be a bit more careful with her image and how they pose together. As far as Billy Ray’s parenting. I think he loves his daughter and is trying to help navigate her career. Do I agree with children being put into this industry so young … no. Most do end up victims, growing up too fast, getting into drugs and alcohol etc… I think it would be better to let Miley be a child and grow up with as normal of a life as she can have with a father a who is semi-famous. I think they could have waited until she was older to pursue an acting/singing career. But to each his own and Miley is his daughter so they made a different decision. She is very successful. I just hope it doesn’t end up being a bitter pill for her later in life with having this much fame and fortune so young.
