Bad Tipper: LeBron James Tips 1.25% on $800 Tab

LeBron James $10 Buck Bad Tipper Bumpshack.com

LeBron James might be the ‘King of Akron’ but he is not going to have too many waiters lining up to serve him and his posse in Cleveland if he continues to tip 1.25% on $800 tabs.

Here is how it all went down:

It went down like this: LeBron pulls up in his Mercedes outside XO. People stop and try not to stare, but c’mon, it’s LeBron James. He enters the restaurant with a group of friends. On this special occasion, the King decides to dine late. He keeps his group there until around 3:45 a.m. During this time the waiter obsequiously pours drinks and fetches anything else His Greatness needs.

The final bill comes to $800. By the feudal laws of decorum, which stipulate that the affluent should administer a 20 percent gratuity, staffers figured they’d be pocketing an extra $160. But when they fetched the autographed bill after His Heinousness bolted back to Akron, their expectation turned to disbelief, then anger.

LeBron stiffed them with a meager $10 tip.

LeBron is making over $13 million dollars in salary alone this year. He is making another $20 million plus in endorsements. So LBJ is making around $33 million bucks and he is still tipping like he is out in middle school with his girl at Denny’s.

Come on King that is just bad form and only adds to certain stereotypes. The BumpWife has been out with Michael Jordan when he was throwing down several Franklin’s on a much smaller tab. If you want to be great then be great off the court to those staying open hours after closing time who are making min. wage or less + tips.

I’m not surprised. Just because he’s rich doesn’t mean he has any class. Typical. I got $12 on a $200 check yesterday from an NBA player.

You can take the boy out of the ghetto but you can’t take the ghetto out of the man

While we are shocked at his “typical” ghetto tip all he is now is ghetto with money. You’d think he would have the common sense of leaving 10% (just swing the decimal over dumbass) for a less than mediocre tip at best….but 1.25%??? I’d throw it back at him and say apparently he needs it more than I do.

Gerard, shut the hell up. Bad service?? You don’t keep a waiter up until 3:45 AM and then tip $10, regardless of the service. Anyways I highly doubt the service was bad, the restuarant manager probably had his best 2 or 3 servers waiting on LeBron’s table. I lost a lot of respect for LeBron after reading this b/s.

I wouldnt say all NBA players are like that. I tdrove a player for the orlando Magics to a restaurant, waited and took him back to his hotel, a total of maybe 2 hours, and maybe 3 miles total. He gave me 300 bucks. Unfortunately, in our line of work, we have to take the good with the bad. Sometimes, you get the greatful people who understand that in the service and hospitality industry, we LIVE off of our tips. They understand that if it wasn’t for us, they would be driiving/serving themselves everywhere they go. Then you get the pathetic people that think that we need “real jobs” but if we don’t serve on them hand and foot, and give them everything on a silver platter, they complain and throw a tantrum like a 2-year old. These are the type of people that no matter what you do for them, they will never be happy. They think they are a god and don’t deserve what they have.

Wait till he gets to NY and pulls that crap. He won’t be able to get a pizza delivered to his place.

everyone knows Lebron is a horrible tipper and, liten to this, this is fact, he cant his own steak or food, he often asks to have his food cut up like a child, arrogant. Ask the stripppers in cleveland what they thing of him….horrible tipper and dont want to see him when he frequents the strip joints. Why do people kiss his ass, he has a high school education at best and we idolize him ike he is super smart…wrong, great athlete and thats it. I love Shaq, now that guy is GREAT. The bar owners like XO who made up that lame excuse that the waiter read the receipt wrong is full of B.S., that was just tring to protect his business….Lebron tips are well known!!!! my information is legit thats for sure.

Hey Penishead, waitstaff are not “already payed” (and it’s paid dumbass). The restaurants get away with paying servers far less than minimum wage on the assumption that most people won’t freeload off the rest of us and tip like you’re supposed to. If they were paid what they should, the prices would just go up. If you can afford to go out to eat, add 10-20% to the price on the menu or don’t go out to eat, go to Burger King. Go to a restaurant sometime in the hood if you want to see what it would be like if nobody tips. You walk to a counter and get your own food and serve yourself, since almost nobody tips in the ghetto, nobody wants to wait tables in the ghetto. If thats how you want to eat, fine by me, just don’t freeload off my tips, prick.

John, a very large chunk of servers are working their way through college, I am one of them. I have an associate’s and a bachelor’s degree and am currently working on getting a credential, which takes another year and a half. Same goes for half of the people I work with. I’m also married and have a son. Also, I think it’s important to understand how tipping works… If I sell you $100 worth of food, I am going to be taxed on 10% of your bill because it is going to be assumed that you will gave me that 10%. So if you do not tip at LEAST 10%, I am essentially paying for part of your meal.

James is just another uneducated dullard who, if you take away his physical gifts, likely ends up in the correctional system just like his father. It amazes me that people continue to pay money to watch a league of immature man-children.

The restaurant industry should not get a pazz on this. Because THEY pay slave wages, they gonna flip the script and put the burden on the customer to make up the wage difference ? I don’t think so.
What this is basically saying is that menu prices are 20% less than they should be, because the customer has to make up the difference via the tips. Blame your employer for paying you slave wages or get another job. Or mark up the price of food – it might keep the riff raff out of restaurants.

my son waited on the king. You’d think with his millions he would at least know how to tip. Same ole story, $80 tab, $5tip, plus not counting the rounds of drinks that were comped. Why the hell do people bow down to these types? Is it the money? Perhaps since they are educated enough to know you tip, then it should be added on automactically. hey maybe they just don’t know how to calculate 20% for gosh sakes. perhaps they should just eat at home and save everyone the headache. Pretty sad.

As if that was the first time? I had the misfortune of having to wait on him and his family almost every week for about 4 years, while trying to pay for college, he was ghetto trash in 1998 and he’s still ghetto trash millions of dollars and 12 years later. He’s been a cheap a$$hole his entire adult life! So glad to never have to wait on that ignorant miser again. Good luck to wait staff in Miami, may you all be able to tack on auto gratuity before he even sits down at your table.

He had a GROUP of people…..an 18-20% tip was almost assuredly already included in the bill…he left $10 more than I would have in that situation! C’mon people!!

Lebron can only multiply in 1s, 2s and 3s (percent that is).. he is not the only sports star that doesn’t tip well, its a known fact in the Vegas community, but he is the self proclaimed “KING” when it comes to under tipping. Nike, Reebok, Adidas and all those money hungry agents should give these cultural idiots an ethics course! Also, to Mike, not all restaurants have that auto gratuity put on checks… and sometimes restaurants won’t allow grats to be put on a check when a celebrity comes into a restaurant… we hope and i mean hope celebrities do the right thing.. Lebron definitely doesnt!!!

John–you’re an idiot and I hope I never have to wait on you. Why do people allow James to get away with this behavior–he needs to be publicly shamed for this–what an ignorant basterd. And Mike–many restaurants do not have an automatic gratuity–no matter how many people you bring. Also James is well known across the country for his poor tips. As an Ohio resident–I say good riddance to James and good luck in Miami–if I were him I’d watch out–his reputation gets around and “oops I dropped his steak on the floor and picked it up and put right back on the a-holes plate”

Money doesn’t buy class. Why do we put athletes on such a pedestal anyways?
