Teacher Marie Jarry Fired for Bikini Photo
Connecticut elementary teacher Marie Jarry was fired from her teaching job after her and her rotund husband competed in a contest on The Howard Stern Show in which a photo of her in a bikini appeared on Stern’s website.
Last week, The Howard Stern Show held an “Ugliest Guy, Hottest Wife” contest in which three couples competed for a $5,000 prize. Connecticut school teacher Marie Jarry (and her worse half) took home the loot, only days later to find herself fired from her job after a picture of her in a bikini (above) was posted on Stern’s website.
“Because of the nature of the show, the board was concerned,” said one parent of a Thalberg Elementary student.
I have to agree with the school board on this one. It might be different if she was a high school or college teacher. That toppled with the fact that it was Howard Stern’s show is probably enough to can her. It is easier to fire her than deal with the uproar at the PTA meeting.

Yes.. it’s acceptable to lose your job over appearing in an outfit that would not be out of place at a public beach. (sigh)
I don’t think it was the bikini that lost her job but the fact of where the photo and contest took place being the ‘Howard Stern’ show. I am with you though the photo in itself is extremely harmless. Or maybe it was the fact that the school board found out she was married to that dude and thought naturally, by appearance alone, that he would be harmful to have near or around children.
I am shocked and appalled first and foremost that Southington would act in such a
callous fashion and dismiss one of its brightest teachers for
absolutely nothing, while having massaged sex offending teachers in
the past. Take a peek at Southington’s track record with their coaches and Math teachers . . . oh right, none of them got this much publicity!
People are not dying here. She hasn’t touched a student inappropriately. Honestly, Howard Stern is a SUBSCRIPTION satellite based show which means it “ain’t free kids”.
What is said on something that must be subscribed to versus FREE terrestrial radio makes this all the more unreasonable. Which leads to one more thought: who was the person that is subscribed that was on her firing committee and shouldn’t they be penalized for PAYING for
such “trash” when they are also influencing our children?
The public school system once again proves its worth. Under
funding usually forces the hiring of subpar teachers and
administrators, and now the one gem in a field of stones loses a job
for being herself in a fashion that has no direct bearing on the
children in her room.
The Southington School System are cowards and the whole situation is a disgrace.
The Jarry’s are owed an apology from all involved.

I am from the neighboring town of Cheshire. Marie Jarry voluntarily resigned and was NOT fired.
