John Tyler Hammons Elected Mayor of Muskogee, OK
19-year old University of Oklahoma student John Tyler Hammons has been elected the mayor of Muskogee, Oklahoma. Muskogee has a population of 38,000.
With all precincts reporting, John Tyler Hammons won with 70 percent of the vote over former Mayor Hershel Ray McBride, said Muskogee County Election Board Secretary Bill Bull.
“The public placing their trust in me is the greatest, humbling and most awesome experience I’ve ever had in my life,” said Hammons, who is from Muskogee but attends the university in Norman.
JTH says he plans to remain in school and complete his education while serving as mayor.
“Being elected does not change my desire to continue my education,” he said. “We will schedule our time in an appropriate fashion so that I can be mayor and stay in school.”
He is planning to transfer to a college mush closer to Muskogee. Those from Muskogee are known as ‘Okies from Muskogee.’
Muskogee is the birthplace of country music star Carrie Underwood. And yes I have been through Muskogee a couple of times but have never taken the time to stop. They have a billboard on the interstate claiming Carrie as their own.

The city that has the sign “home of Carrie Underwood” is Checotah, not Muskogee. Checotach is a few miles outside of Muskogee. Mark, long-time Muskogee, Okla. resident
Thanks Mark! Next time through I am paying more attention for sure and stopping by your house for lunch!

This shows how incredibly ignorant and gullable the american people have become. Most people have a hard time coping with becoming an adult, dealing with finance, and making informed, objective decisions at 19. Most would agree that they did some really stupid thoughtless stuff based solely on emotions and the inability to maturely deal with said emotions at that age. In this situation, its not say, a girlfriend, or partying, underage teenagers that will pay the price, but a whole community that will pay the price. Have fun sleeping in the bed you’ve made for yourselves. It seems like the IQ’s of americans have been sharply dropping over the last 15 years; From the “inalienable” rights that have been allowed to be taken away, to the masses blindly believing what the press is allowed to spoon feed them, This is not what our forefathers intended. It used to be strong morals and character that made leaders, not a last name and a family bank account.
My God…he is gay. Unreal…he denies it in public…but yeah…he is.
