I like the Oklahoma City Rocket’s or the Oklahoma City Bison!
Tony | July 10th, 2008 19:51
It should be, “The Sonic Boomers”!!!
Since Seattle is wanting to keep the name “Sonics”. Clay Bennett owns “Sonic” drive-ins, then OKC should take the “s” off the end and use it.

I like ‘Indians’ and ‘Oilers’ You have the baseball and football giants. Why not the baseball and basketball indians or bring back a popular unused franchise name that people can identify with?
Oklahoma City Indians
Oklahoma City Oilers

lance freeman | July 15th, 2008 11:42

I think they should be called the “Oklahoma Outlaws”. NOT OKC! They are going to allienate people using CITY in the name. Tulsa people will feel more a part of the team, which equals more merchandise sold, tickets, etc. I am from a rural town in Western Oklahoma and will support them either way, I just feel that it would make more since to make it Oklahoma’s team, instead of OKC’s.

Oklahoma Outlaws!! They arlready have that cool logo from the Oklahoma CFL team. Go Outlaws!
Out of all the names listed in the top four, the ‘Barons’ are probably the best right now; this name represents Leaders, Royaly, and Prosperity which can be used to interpret a clean cut, fresh start, and positive image for the team’s debut in OKC. I think that the city will embrace this team and make a huge difference in the attitudes of the players and create a strong fan / player relationship which would potentially make them a strong competetive and well respected team in the league.
I saw a comment earlier about taking the ‘City’ out of OKC because some feel that it may allienate people using ‘City’ in the name. My perspective is that OKC is in the State of Oklahoma anyway; I’m sure that the majority of fans would not see it as an issue. They are probably just as excited of even the thought of having a professional basketball team representing their state. That’s just my thinking!
You heard it first here!

OKC Tribe. Oklahoma is home to the largest number of Native Americans (I am a member of the Cherokee tribe). That would be a great name and tribute to “Indian Territory”

I Love using City in the name and I also love Thunder, Twister’s, Tornado’s Or STORM!!!! Just imagine just before the Introductions of the starting line up. You hear the announcment of a tornado or storm warning followed by sounds of winds and thunder, and see the flahing of lightning as the lights flicker. As the players are introduced. You could also have some type of wind machine to blow on the cheerleaders and maybe even on the players. Also everytime our team has an away game, that city could be put under a storm watch or tornado watch. I can hear the guys on sports center as they say The OKC Storm or Tornados blew threw Dallas tonight causing lots of damage as the Beat Dallas 110 - 98. I have lots more ideas……

I think that Bison or Barons would be the best pick. I really dislike something so stupid as the “wind” or the “thunder”. What would the mascot be? A cloud? And what about wind? Are you guys serious? lol. I don’t want it to be something like cowboy or marshalls. We are catching up to other citys’ and we shouldn’t always be assosiating our state with cowboys. This is 2008. Come on. Also…I am from OKC and would especially like to have City on the name. Tulsa didn’t help us get no team. It’s ours and if they’d like to come watch they can drive their happy you know what’s down here and pay. We done passed them up. We are a bigger and better city and they don’t deserve any credit for our team or any national recognition.
