Oscar Award winning actress Tatum O’Neal was busted by the NYPD for trying to buy crack and cocaine according to TMZ.

The NYPD tells us that O’Neal was allegedly “observed” buying crack and coke on the Lower East Side near her apartment.

She was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and held at the Seventh Precinct downtown. We’re told that she’s waiting to see the judge for arraignment.

O’Neal is the youngest actor to ever win an Academy Award. She won as a 10-year old for her performance in Paper Moon back in 1974.

She has battled drugs throughout her life including a prior addiction to heroin. She was once wed to tennis great John McEnroe.
