Ryan Reynolds Breakup Fueled New Alanis Morissette Album

Alanis Morissette has never been one to hide her feelings or emotions in her music. Her style is raw, exposed and personal. Her new album is fueled by her devastating breakup last year from actor Ryan Reynolds, with whom she was engaged to.
“I think it’s the straw that breaks the camel’s back,” Morissette says. “It’s having had too many of them. And I was a full-blown love addict, so it was like, ‘I can’t keep doing this, my body can’t take it.’ Breakups are a horrible thing for almost everybody I know. For someone who is a love addict, it’s debilitating.
“I’ve been on a constant journey toward finally surrendering and hitting the rock bottom that I’ve been avoiding my whole life. . . . So this was a huge, critical juncture for me. Everything broke, and it was an amazing and horrifying time.”
I am sure last month’s news of Reynolds engagement to Scarlett Johansson hit Alanis hard as well.
Morissette’s new album ‘Flavors of Entanglement’ is on store shelves today.

Christ, that man ought to take some responsibility for his actions & talk things through with her so she doesn’t have to sing about it. Someone in their thirties doing a breakup album sounds just a little too self indulgent - fine at 21, mid 30’s - sorry, doesn’t seem so vital.
Not like she hasn’t trod that road before …
regardless of what fueled the music that alanis wrote for flavors of entanglement, it is an incredible album…if ryan reynolds had the power to invoke enough emotion in alanis to produce beautiful music, power to him. she will get over it… just like she has gotten over all the rest.
