Comedian George Carlin Dead at 71
Comedian George Carlin. who took the F-word to new heights, died this evening at St. Johns hospital in Santa Monica after being admitted for chest pains. The likely cause of death was a heart attack according to early reports.
Carlin will be remebered as one of the greatest stand-up comedians of all-time. Carlin was the first person to host Saturday Night Live.
His ‘7 Dirty Words’ routine was the focal point of a 1978 Supreme Court (F.C.C. vs. Pacifica Foundation) case that revolved around the government’s right to regulate Carlin’s act on the airwaves.
Carlin knows for sure now, one way or another, if there is in fact a ‘invisible man in the sky.’ He often said good buddy Joe Pesci was his god.
His first wife Brenda Hosbrook died in 1997. Carlin’s only child, Kelly Carlin McCall, was with Brenda. He is survived by his second wife Sally Wade.
