Erin Howard killed her son in a drunk driving car wreck on June 14th which was her 26th birthday.  A judge released her from jail for 24 hours to attend the funeral of her son Samuel Carpenter.  Howard attended the funeral and then instead of returning to jail went to the local bar to drown her misery (again).

A judge allowed Erin Howard, 26, of Corry, to leave the Erie County (PA) Prison for 24 hours to attend her son’s funeral in Ohio, with orders to return to the lockup by 3 p.m. Saturday. Instead, police say Howard went to a bar in Hamilton, Ohio, about a kilometre from the church where the funeral for six-year-old Samuel Carpenter was held.

This woman deserves to have the book thrown at her and it’s probably likely that the judge will do just that when her trial comes up.
