O.J. Mayo Traded to the Memphis Grizzlies for Kevin Love

After the conclusion of the 2008 NBA Draft on Thursday night the Memphis Grizzlies secured a deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves that sent USC sensation O.J. Mayo to the Grizz in an eight player trade. Mayo was selected earlier in the night as the third pick by the Wolves. In return they received pick #5 Kevin Love along with shooting guard Mike Miller.
Here is a look at all eight players trading places in this mega deal:
The Grizzlies, who selected UCLA’s Kevin Love with the fifth pick, were completing a deal late Thursday night that will bring them Mayo (taken third by Minnesota), Antoine Walker, Marko Jaric and Greg Buckner for Love, Mike Miller, Brian Cardinal and Jason Collins.
The Grizzlies also traded their second first round pick Donte’ Green to the Portland Trailblazers for Kansas forward Darrell Arthur (drafted 27th).
In a separate transaction, the Griz shipped their 28th pick (Syracuse’s Donte Greene) plus a 2009 second-round pick to Portland for the draft rights to the 27th pick, Darrell Arthur.
The addition of Mayo will give the Grizzlies star power and Arthur should give them a strong presence on the blocks at power foward.
The Grizzlies took some chances tonight which surprised a lot of people. I hate to see Miller go but the trade will likely be very good for Memphis in the long run.
