Smashing $66.4 Million Dollar Opening DAY for ‘Dark Knight’

‘The Dark Knight’ Production Photo Batman - Joker Confrontation

The latest Batman movie, The Dark Knight, opened with an astonishing $66.4 million dollar box office take on its first day of release according to estimates from Box Office Daily.

The $66.4 million dollar opening day is the highest grossing opening day of all-time, beating out the $59.8 million that Spider-Man 3 did back in 2007. Knight opened on 4,366 theaters for a screen average of $15,208 vs. Spidey’s $14,074 on 4,252 screens.

96.7% of reviewers of the film on Box Office Mojo give Knight a ‘B’ grade or better. 93.2% gave it an ‘A’.

Over 15,400 reviews of the film on Yahoo! Movies give it an average grade of ‘A’.

Word of mouth on the film is great. Many who have seen it already have pledged to see it multiple times while it is in the theater.
