Melissa Lawson beat out Gabe Garcia and Shawn Mayer to win the sixth season of Nashville Star on Monday night. She will receive a recording contract, a Toyota pickup truck, get to perform at the Grand Ole Opry, and also at the 2008 Beijing Olympic games.

As Gabe Garcia and Melissa Lawson waited on stage, Billy Ray Cyrus announced, “The new Nashville Star is Melissa Lawson.” Melissa said, “It is not just me that just won this competition. It is everyone of you that voted for me. We won.” To close out the show, Melissa performed “What If It All Goes Right,” the song that will become her first single.
