John Edwards Admits to Affair, Denies Love Child
Score another victory for The National Enquirer. The tabloid for weeks has been insisting that former democratic senator John Edwards had a lengthy affair with Rielle Hunter. The Enquirer busted Edwards with Hunter at the Beverly Hilton two weeks ago and this week published a photo of Edwards holding Hunter’s infant baby.
Now Edwards has publicly admitted to ABC News that it is in fact true.
He told ABC News that he didn’t love Hunter, 42, and knew he wasn’t the father of her child because of the timing of the baby’s birth on Feb. 27.
The National Enquirer first reported the allegations in October and published a new report in July on an incident between the tabloid’s reporters and Edwards at a Beverly Hills hotel where Hunter and her child reportedly were staying.
FOXNews.com confirmed Edwards did have an encounter with reporters at the hotel and had to be escorted out. Edwards denied the allegations when they first flared late last year. But in recent weeks he and his inner circle have clammed up — he refused to respond to questions from FOXNews.com on the matter last month.
We can now all hold our breath until Hunter and Jerry Springer announce the DNA results on pay-per-view TV or perhaps at the Democratic National Convention in Denver later this month.
John and Elizabeth Edwards have been married since 1977. They have three children and lost a their oldest child Wade in a car crash back in 1996.

Newt, Foley, L. Craig, Livingston, Vitter, Spitzer, McGrevey, Packwood, Clinton – there is a long list of public people with personal failings. I am not put off by the act or the lying (What do they have to lose at that point?), and as a general rule, I don’t think adultery should be a disqualifier for office. What is repellent to me is the hypocrisy, the cravenness that they hold on to power after being caught, and the humiliation their spouses have to endure when used as props when they make public admissions. They are self-absorbed malignant narcissists. Bob Packwood ran for reelection. Bob Livingston did it right; he got caught and resigned in hours. I did notice McCain gave a firm no comment to an Edwards affair.
