Kristen Hall Sues Old Band Sugarland
Former Sugarland band member Kristen Hall is suing the highly successful country group for unpaid money she claims is due her from an agreement they reached when she left the band back in 2006. She is suing the two remaining Sugarland members Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles in Atlanta district court.
Hall filed the lawsuit on July 29 in U.S. District Court in Atlanta. It reads, in part, that Nettles and Bush “have acted in bad faith, have been stubbornly litigious and have caused [Hall] unnecessary trouble and expense,” by not honoring the agreement and keeping Hall out of the revenue stream.
Hall left the band to stay at home and write songs according to the Sugarland website.
At the time of her departure, rumors circulated about the real reason she left, but the band simply posted this statement on its Web site: “Kristen has decided that she wants to stay home and write songs, and we support her in that decision.”
She was very influential in the band coming together and wrote at least parts of every song up until her departure. Hall is suing for $1.5 million plus interest.
Sugarland’s Love On the Inside is currently the #1 album in the country.
