Michael Phelps, Teammates Win Gold in 4×100 Freestyle Relay
Michael Phelps, Cullen Jones, Garrett Weber-Gale, and Jason Lezak came from behind in the last leg to upset the French team and win gold in the 4×100 Men’s Freestyle. Lezak came from a good distance behind to beat the French in the last leg to the roars of almost everyone in attendance.
The Americans finished in 3:08:24 to set a world record. The barely edged out the French who finished in 3:08:32. Australia was in third at 3:09:91.

The gold medal is the second in Phelps’ quest to win a record eight gold medals. He won his first gold of the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the 400 Meter Freestyle.
