Michael Phelps Wins Record 8th Olympic Gold Medal
Michael Phelps, with the help of three of his teammates set an Olympic world record with his eigth gold medal tonight in the 4×100 Medley Relay. He broke the previous record of seven medals set by fellow American Mark Spitz in the 1972 Munich Olympics.
Phelps was joined in the 4×100 and victory by Jason Lezak, Brendan Hansen, and Aaron Piersol.
He now has 16 total medals in his Olympic career, 14 of those are gold.
