Obama Explains “Pig-Lipstick” Remark on Letterman
Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama appeared on the “Late Show with David Letterman” on Wednesday night and tried to explain to host David Letterman what he meant on Tuesday when he said, “You can put lipstick on it, it’s still a pig.” Many people, especially women, believe the line was aimed at Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin.
Here is how Baracko explained his controversial choice of words to Dave:
“Just calling [ideas] change, calling them different doesn’t make it better, hence lipstick on a pig,” Obama said.
He then clarified his statements even more.
“Keep in mind, technically, had I meant it this way, [Palin] would be the lipstick. The failed policies of John McCain would be the pig, just following the logic of this illogical situation,” Obama said.
Well I am glad my readers are a lot smarter than me, because I am having a hard time figuring out what he said. Is he saying he didn’t mean it that way? Or is he saying that is how he meant it? If he didn’t mean it like he did explain then how did he mean it?
I still think Barack is too smart of a man to not know how that statement would be taken. His audience had no trouble understanding, as they applauded and went psycho, when they heard it. They took it as a jab against Palin. I don’t think any other politician over the past 25 years has received such an ovation for using the ‘lipstick on a pig’ line, but granted we don’t have all of those utterances on You Tube.
