American Idol alum and Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson is engaged to reality TV star David Otunga.  The two both hail from Chicago.

David Otunga asked Jennifer Hudson him, presenting her with a Neil Lane-designed diamond ring on Oscar winner Hudson’s 27th birthday.

Jennifer Hudson is a former American Idol contestant singer, as well as an actress. David Otunga is most known as “Punk” from the VH1 reality show called “I Love New York 2″.

Otunga and Hudson have dated for a little less than a year, and both hail from the Chicago area.
Hudson’s representative says, “I can confirm that Jennifer got engaged to her boyfriend
David on Friday night in Los Angeles.”

Hudson and Otunga have been dating a little less than a year.  No date has just yet been set for the wedding.
