Quaid’s Reach Settlement With Cedars-Sinai Hospital
Dennis and Kimberly Quaid have reached a financial settlement of $750,000 with Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles over the 2007 overdosing of their twin infants on the blood thinner Heparin.
“The settlement is the result of extensive negotiations between the parties and their respective legal representatives, and is intended to avoid the time, expense and uncertainty of litigation,” say papers filed in L.A. Superior Court on Monday.
Just two weeks after twins Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace were born in November 2007 via gestational carrier, they were accidentally given a massive overdose of the blood thinner Heparin, and spent days battling for their lives.
The babies recovered and are now in good health, providing what Quaid, 54, called a “happy ending” to the medical scare.
The true victory is that the twins survived and are healthy. Hospitals and doctors should be held accountable when they are as grossly negligent as Cedars was in this case in overdosing the Quaid twins.
