Famous American Major League Baseball player, Mark Teixeira, just made an eight-year ($180 million) deal with the New York Yankees. Mark reveals who really convinced him to go through with it was his wife Leigh Teixeira.

Mark says: “Two weeks before Christmas, I talked to [my wife] Leigh about it again, and we kind of decided that, hey, the Yankees are where we want to be. Cash [Brian Cashman] might want to give Leigh a hug, because when I asked her during the process, ‘Where should I go, where should I go?,’ she’d always say, ‘I just want you to be happy.’ Finally she said, ‘I want you to be a Yankee,’ and it was a done deal.”

Guess who is the real boss?? I think Leigh might have to become Mark’s manager from now on – she really knows best. Behind a great man, there’s always a great woman… and she needs to take the lead sometimes. It was one of Mark’s dreams to play for the Yankees so Leigh just gave him the push he needed!

Australian actress Isla Fisher looks fabulous for another magazine spread. She talks about her relationship with troublemaker fiancé Sacha Baron Cohan (“Borat”), who was recently seen kissing another woman at a club, and how she converted to Judaism for love. Sexy mom of 1 year-old Olive also says she is mostly judged by her looks and she is definitely not a good at shopping.

On Hollywood: “I met with one big agent and he goes to me, ‘You are so talented’. I said, ‘Oh, gosh, thank you. What have you seen me in?’ And he said, ‘Nothing’. It was my first real taste of Hollywood.”

On not being an “exercise person”: “You know the point where somebody working out starts to feel tired? Apparently, you get this second wind and you really start to sweat, and that’s when you get addicted. But for me, that’s the point I get off and have a cup of tea and a slice of cake.”

On being funny: “I was getting rejected so much and Sacha said, ‘You’re so funny’, so that, coming from him…I just think it’s the fact that I can juggle condiments for him.”

On Sacha Baron Cohen: “Most people can say to their partners, ‘How was your day at work? What time are you home for dinner?’ I have to say, ‘Are you getting sued? Have you been arrested? Are you in jail? Are all your limbs still attached?’ He has more lawsuits than the Baldwin brothers.”

On her role in Wedding Crashers: “The director wanted me to play it like Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct and I said, ‘No – you mean Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction’.”

On love and converting to Judaism: “Love is an incredible gift if you’re lucky enough to receive it and give it, and I think having a baby is another whole level of love. I think it’s great to have those boundaries and have one day that’s sacred where we don’t talk about work. And I love having more structure and rituals in my life – it’s really enriching.”

Rihanna and Chris Brown’s relationship isn’t exactly a secret to anyone, even if they haven’t made it official yet. On Elton John’s New Year ’s Eve party, the duo took the stage to perform a duet together and Rihanna was wearing one big diamond ring on her wedding finger.

Rihanna was caught outside by the paparazzi and also made no effort to hide her new bling with a pair of fingerless leather gloves. We know what that means!! Chris and Rihanna are engaged to be married – we can’t say we didn’t see this coming. Reportedly the lovebirds are already living together.

Actress Debra Messing, who recently admitted she had finally get back into shape 3 years after giving birth to her son, was out and about in Beverly Hills running some errands. It looks like she just got out of bed, dressed the first thing she could find and rushed out the door.

According to Knocked Up Celebs, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have finally welcomed their second child, another baby girl, today (January 6th). Jennifer has been in and out of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center the past couples of days, probably because of some false alarms but now Violet can finally meet her little sister.

Jennifer’s rep says: “Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck gave birth to a healthy baby girl.” It wasn’t announced the name of the baby yet, but we predict another flower name… who knows?? Maybe the Afflecks can surprise us with an original weird name to top celebrity baby names this year!!

While Anne looked absolutely fabulous in a dark suit and high heels, Kate Hudson went in for the kill, wearing a beautiful strapless mermaid dress. They couldn’t have chosen more extreme outfits! Although they both look amazing, I say it’s like they are playing the roles of bride and groom.

Actress Lindsay Lohan was infuriated by rumors coming out all over the web that she and her girlfriend Samantha Ronson had broken up. The constant fighting and Sam’s health issues are two of the many reasons for various sources to point to a split between them, but there is no truth to these rumors. Lindsay and Samantha are still happily doing it and will continue fighting! That’s what healthy couples do, they fight all the time!

The Travolta family, John Travolta, Kelly Preston and Ella, is mourning the loss of their son and brother. They have been through a lot, from blaming their belief in Scientology on Jett Travolta’s death to the possibility that he could have been left unattended for more than 10 hours. They finally released a very emotional statement in both John and Kelly’s official websites, followed by some exclusive family photos.

“We would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to everyone who has sent their love and condolences. Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered. We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time we had with him for the rest of our lives. We have received many messages of condolence from around the world and we want to thank everyone for their prayers and support. According to Fox News, Dr. Cyril Wecht, the pathologist who performed the autopsy on Anna Nicole Smith‘s son, Daniel, in 2007, says Jett’s autopsy results may never be released to the public since in normal circumstances, like accidents, the family has the right to keep it private. On the other hand a funeral home official says in Jett’s death certificate the cause of death is listed as “seizure”.

Again our thoughts and prayers go out to the family for their terribly loss.

Update: The Travolta family returned home to Florida, according to USA today:

Bahamian parliament member Obie Wilchcombe said the couple left the islands Monday night after receiving an urn with Jett’s ashes. Funeral plans have not been announced.

Actress Eva Mendes is the new cover girl for Latina Magazine (December 2008/January 2009). Her new movie “The Spirit” is out now and Eva confesses the writer/director Frank Miller, says the actress infused her character with “Cuban fire” but she doesn’t want to be stuck with a stereotype. She wants to be considered more than just a sexy Latina actress and I think she actually proved herself with her talent.

As for the beefs between “The Spirit” sexy stars, Scarlett Johansson, Jamie King, Paz Vega and herself, Eva insists they are nothing but rumors: “I know how people like to believe that, but it’s a very sexist way of thinking. Nobody ever asks that when men work together in an ensemble cast. I’ve been in the business 10 years and I’ve never had a negative situation with another actress – ever.”

Eva is also happy she was a grown up woman and knew what she wanted before getting in the showbiz: “I just thank my lucky stars for that. Germany’s largest drugs wholesaler, Merckle and Ratiopharm, did not escape the financial crisis and reportedly this was the reason behind its owner’s, Adolf Merckle, suicide. The Billionaire inherited the company from his grandfather and when he couldn’t handle the pressure anymore he just stood in front of a train, according to Reuters.

“The desperate situation of his companies caused by the financial crisis, the uncertainties of the last few weeks and his powerlessness to act, have broken the passionate family entrepreneur and he took his own life,” a family statement said.

State prosecutors from the southern city of Ulm said Merckle, 74, left work on Monday and died after being hit by a train near the town of Blaubeuren. He left behind a suicide note to his family, they added.

This situation has aggravated the company’s situation. Although this should be a time of mourning to the family, they have a lot on their hands at this moment. Our thoughts and prayers go out for the loss of their leader Adolf Merckle.

On another note, psychologists have suggested the financial crisis could lead to an increase of suicide rates all over the world. Let’s just hope the crisis can end quickly and preferably with no more victims.

Kate Hudson was at “The Late Show With Dave Letterman” to promote her new movie, co-starring the beautiful Anne Hathaway, “Bride Wars“. The cold weather didn’t intimidate Kate as she wore the most hideous tight mini-dress exposing her bare back. Kate is beautiful, she would look wonderful in anything but that pattern is a little too much – it’s some type of visual pollution.
