Actor James Whitmore Dead at 87
Veteran actor James Whitmore, best known for his one man act, has died in his California home from complications with lung cancer. He was 87.
Whitmore’s career on stage and screen spanned more than 50 years , and his honors included both a Tony and Emmy Award as well as an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor for his second movie, the hit 1949 World War II drama, Battleground.
He is survived by his wife Noreen Nash. He was the grandfather of Matty Whitmore, who was a contestant on Survivor: Gabon.
