After winning 8 gold medals in the 2008 Olympic Games, Michael Phelps celebrated it like a champion. Phelps was just behaving like a normal 23 year-old guy at a house party at the University Of South Carolina in Columbia when he was caught with a glass bong usually used to smoke cannabis.
The compromising photos were publish in a British tabloid, which forced Michael to make a statement and apologize for his actions today.
Phelps said: “I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I’m 23 years old and despite the successes I’ve had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again.”
Phelps is young, he was partying and he made one small mistake. He took responsibility for his actions instead of just denying the whole thing so Phelps sure deserves some respect.
