Miss California Carrie Prejean Speaks Up, Perez Is a Hypocrite (Video)
Miss California Carrie Prejean, who caused controversy for speaking her mind on gay marriage (video here), stands by her beliefs and is not going to apologize. Carrie could have given the politically correct answer, she didn’t and she think it cost her the Miss USA 2009 crown.
“It did cost me my crown,” Prejean told Billy Bush of Access Hollywood and The Billy Bush Show on satellite radio show Monday. “I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I said what I feel. I stated an opinion that was true to myself and that’s all I can do.”
“It is a very touchy subject and [Hilton] is a homosexual and I see where he was coming from and I see the audience would’ve wanted me to be more politically correct,” she added. “But I was raised in a way that you can never compromise your beliefs and your opinions for anything.”
When confronted with clips of Perez Hilton’s very public attacks on MSNBC’s 9 AM hour Tuesday, Carrie declares she feels sorry for the celebrity blogger.
“I can only say to him that I will be praying for him. I feel sorry for him, I really do,” Prejean said. “I think he’s angry, I think he’s hurt. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. He asked me specifically what my opinion was on that subject and I gave him an honest answer.”
Whether we agree or not with Miss California’s view on the subject, we have to give her props for having her own opinions and beliefs and express them honestly. Our friends at College Candy point out Perez as a hypocrite.
Perez: YOU’RE allowed to hate on everyone in Hollywood every single day on your site for the simple reason of making some money, but because this girl has religious beliefs that go against your own, she’s all of a sudden the bad guy? Yes, it is OK to disagree with her, but she is not a bitch for having an opinion, especially one based on her religious beliefs.
Ditto! Perez seems to have taken this pretty personally. Maybe it’s time for him to think about all the celebs he has hurt by his hateful remarks over the past years!

Hooray for her!! Our country has become way to accepting of everything. She has her beliefs and she is entitled to them and she said what she felt was right. We tear politicians up for being wishy washy and changing their minds daily based on polls. She did the exact opposite, stuck to her guns and she gets trashed for it. We can’t have it both ways. I think Perez is the one in the wrong, he went off cussing and calling names, she stated her beliefs and did not condemn or call names. He was the one in the wrong if you ask me.

Well I think Miss California, should got her decents to explain better or just said I’m not a judege who is one I believe there is GOD and he is the only one, other than that i just belive people shoul dlive the way the want and no one should judge, and she did wrong sorry but i wount vote for a discriminator lady she is a discriminator person, and if she know the law of USA, she should be know that we do not discriminate people, for who they are how the look or were they from.

I strongly admire Ms. Prejean for the brave stance she took with the answer of a question that should not have been asked to begin with. She is an inspiration to many and a perfect example of the price you have to pay to take the high road. She will always be MY “Miss USA”.

I think it is AWESOME that she said what she said! Anyone can just go along with the crowd but it takes a very strong person to say what they know is right and I believe that is what she did. I think she is a very good role model to young Adults. If i had a daughter I would want her to be able to look up to someone like that. Someone who is willing to tell the truth even when its not the *popular* thing to do.Isn’t that kind of the point of Miss America? Someone who can be a role model? God is the only REAL judge and I would much rather have him be proud of me than to win some silly crown!

I am more impressed that Carrie didn’t lie, it would have been easy to do that and win the crown. There isn’t many of us anywhere that can agree on everything!
