Miss California Carrie Prejean, who has become famous for her fervid anti-gay marriage statements and some “non-existent” topless photos that were all over the net (photos here), opened a big can of worms. Her mother Francine Coppola was just outted by her lesbian lover Valerie Vetrano.

Valerie Vetrano tells Star exclusively, “Yes, Francine and I dated.”

However, the affair was doomed, says a source. “Francine explained how she was a Christian and that her loved ones would never accept her if she were gay,” the friend says. When Valerie asked her what would happen if she told her daughter Carrie about the two of them, Francine responded, “Carrie would never believe it!”

Adds the friend, “Valerie feels that if Francine had just been open about her sexuality with her family, Carrie would have a better understanding of what gay people have to go through. They just want equal rights.”

Francine kept the steamy lesbian affair secret from her family and only recently broke up with Valerie. The two have reportedly been dating since Carrie’s parents, Francine and Wil Prejean, divorce back in 1996. The divorce papers include gay allegations from both parts! People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones!
