‘Queen Of The Blues’ Koko Taylor Dies At 80 (Photos)

Legendary blues singer/musician KoKo Taylor, best known as the “Queen Of The Blues”, has died on Wednesday (June 3) at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital after complications from surgery for a gastrointestinal bleed. Koko was 80 years old.

The passion that she brought and the fire and the growl in her voice when she sang was the truth,” blues singer and musician Ronnie Baker Brooks said Wednesday. “The music will live on, but it’s much better because of Koko. It’s a huge loss.

      The “True Queen of the Blues” gone. You have touched so many lives, and especially this one’s. Rest in Peace Miss Taylor we love you and always will. God be with you as I know he is, trying to learn how to sing the Blues.
