Sarah Palin vs. David Letterman: Overly Sexual Jokes Scandal (Videos)

David Letterman made several very cruel jokes about Sarah Palin and her daughter going to a Yankees game during the former VP candidate’s visit to New York City.
During the opening monologue on Tuesday night (June 9), Dave said: “One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game. During the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez” (watch video above). Bad taste? Yes! Funny? Absolutely!
Sarah Palin took this joke very seriously and attacks Dave Letterman by calling him a pervert for making a sexual joke about a minor (wait! I thought Dave was talking about Bristol Palin!) via the following statement:
“Concerning Letterman’s comments about my young daughter (and I doubt he’d ever dare make such comments about anyone else’s daughter): Laughter incited by sexually-perverted comments made by a 62-year-old male celebrity aimed at a 14-year-old girl is not only disgusting, but it reminds us some entertainers have a long way to go in understanding what the rest of America understands–that acceptance of inappropriate sexual comments about an underage girl, who could be anyone’s daughter, contributes to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors by older men who use and abuse others.”
The Late Show host presented another one of his funny Top Ten lists “Highlights of Sarah Palin’s Trip To New York” and said Palin had the style of a “slutty flight attendant” (watch video below the fold).
Dave had the opportunity to clear up the situation and responded to Sarah Palin on his “Late Show” on Wednesday, June 10 (watch video below the fold). David explains he was actually talking about her 18 year-old daughter Bristol Palin, who recently gave birth to baby Tripp and has became a high-profile advocate for abstinence.
Dave said: “We were, as we often do, making jokes about people in the news and we made some jokes about Sarah Palin and her daughter [Bristol]… and now they’re upset with me… These are not jokes made about her 14-year-old daughter. I would never, never make jokes about raping or having sex of any description with a 14-year-old girl…. Am I guilty of poor taste? Yes. Did I suggest that it was okay for her 14-year-old daughter to be having promiscuous sex? No.”

More coverage of the Health Care Restructuring plans in detail should be done…More coverage on Supremacist, Racist organized groups and how they get their funds and ties to politicians should be done…More coverage of what banks are doing to pay taxpayers back in full detail should be done…More journalistic investigations on what HMOS are doing with patients when they substitute the true necessary medication, treatment, chemotherapy, diagnostic necessary tests as opposed to totally false diagnosis just to do expensive echocardiograms ct scans etc…just because the doctors now own the equipment to perform said diagnostic tests; and that is how they rip off the insurance companies and make up for the profits they cannot make charging what private doctors make! That bankrupts Americans of all walks of life!
There is an ocean of issues that should be covered, that would give the coveted ratings and would actually do what journalism was intended to do originally, which is to serve the public!
Why cover Palin and Letterman who just want free normally extremely expensive airtime?
Palin had no problem with Republican politicians exploiting her beauty title and her good looks!(I am a registered Independent, I’m a pretty conservative Italian woman) She, Palin had no problem in putting her entire family out in the political public forum for the media to cover! She turned her entire family into public figures by talking about and allowing Bristol to be interviewed about her out of wedlock pregnancy and now she has her advocating abstinence as if either Bristol or Sarah Palin had the moral authority to advocate such a thing after Bristol became an unwed mom, and Sarah became the evil separator of a new innocent family and leaving her grandson without a father, who desperately wants to be one to him! What possible moral or political authority can this woman have over anyone? She’s a terrible joke of what conservatives are supposed to stand for! Her handlers think that they are clever to turn things around on Letterman (who is just as un clever as Palin), by claiming that he was referring to the 14 year old, who no one knows or remembers because unlike her sister Bristol, she has not created controversy by getting pregnant and then hypocritically advocating abstinence!
Clearly the foolish comedian was referencing Bristol who did get “knocked up,” not the other kid! Now Palin’s handlers are trying to make hay of something that no one had interpreted as having demeaned the 14 year old, until they turned things around to their benefit to EXPLOIT the controversy and get free publicity! What the Palin Handlers do not get, is that the majority of mainstream Americans, see right thru the entire contrived nonsense! Letterman is a fool for apologizing to anyone! They are public, they are “politicking,” therefore, they are free game for any and all comedians! He was crude and that is what most comedians are now days because the FCC does nothing about it…because the audience finds them funny! Because unfortunately that is the “anything goes” culture of today! So please stop giving these fools free air time!

so the content of the joke was referring to the other daughter, but it ws in fact the 14 year old at the game that he was talking about. poor excuse! and his defense is it’s ok to joke about the rape of an 18 year old? not just bad taste, absolutely not acceptable for his talent or show. I will never watch it again nor support anything to do with david letterman. cbs is nuts for allowing it.

Hmm, you say you love Dave, he’s so funny…I truly wonder if you’d have laughed if he had been talking about the president’s daughter. I’m not a big fan of Palin, but her politics aside…NOBODY should have their children attacked in any way, for any reason. Dave should be ashamed.

In what way is it hypocritical to make a mistake and then go try to influence young people not to make the same mistake. I admire Brisol. I teach high school students and they listen most to people of their own age. Bristol is a great spokesperson for abstinence.

The reason people are tuning in to this dirtbag is because people love to see a crash and they love to see what this demented creep is going to say..I would not want to subject myself to the indignity of watching a ship go down, while the violins are playing. He may have good ratings now, but down the road a bit, when the shock of his admission wears off, and if he makes remarks about Palin or some cheating political figure, people will laugh at him, not his jokes and the ratings will crash. People forget he made jokes about an underage girl and a celebrity baseball player and she happened to be the daughter of a political figure named Sarah Palin, not caring about the consequences or people’s feelings; and he also inferred that Sarah Palin was a slut..so we have to listen to this old dirtbag? He picked on Palin because he did not agree with her politics, nothing more…The man is a menace…let him get his ratings from the kool aid drinkers. To me he is a has been and a dirty old man, who manipulated very young interns and workers on his staff with his celebrity; and is a man who picks on people who cannot defend themselves, and quite honestly he is not funny! LETTERMAN: Just another “dime-a-dozen” product of the underbelly of society that can relate to his degradation of a politician that he is opposed to. His “fans” are those who tolerate this kind of moral turpitude and abuse of the airwaves. The kind of government that we are challenged with now is another product of the simple minded, gullible types that continue to support this person.
