MTV’s New Reality Show ‘16 And Pregnant’ (Video)
MTV’s new documentary series titled ’16 And Pregnant’ follows the life of several pregnant teenage girls during a 5 to 7 month period offering a different perspective on teen pregnancy.
This new “reality” series is supposed to show the different challenges the young moms-to-be have to face (marriage, adoption, religion, gossip, finances, rumors, graduating high school, getting or losing a job) and how they are struggling to provide the best for their children.
We hope teenagers don’t start to get pregnant just to appear on the show… it’s a dangerous subject plus I don’t think this is the best approach to prevent teen pregnancy!
The first mom is Maci from Tennessee, who was a model student, player softball and was a cheerleader before getting pregnant, has to transfer to another school and deal with a new life living with her baby’s daddy Ryan.
Maci says: “I think I’ve made the right decisions the whole way, but I guess if I had to say, the hardest thing would probably be just having to … miss out on a teenage life, and having to replace things that I would normally worry about, like what I’m going to wear to the football game on Saturday, [with] how I’m going to pay the electric bill.”
Maci and Ryan have the help of their parents and seem to be learning a lot after the birth of their baby Bentley (yep, like the car! Ryan is a mechanic!). Do you think this type of “documentary” will prevent teen pregnancy or will just encourage young girls to start a family sooner??

this is a really good show because it shows girls what it is like to be a mom at 16 and its really hard to be a mom at 16

I believe this is a great show to let girls that young know that having a baby that early isnt all cute and easy. Some people that have commented on the show think its sayimg that teen pregnancy is cool and thats not true at all because if ur child cant tell the difference between something that u should copy and something u shouldnt then u need to put a block on your television.
I think this is the stupidest thing in the entire world. why should such foolishness be exalted? im sure these foolish teenagers make money. i heard some teenagers talking about trying to appear on the show by getting pregnant. they actually discussed this with their boyfriends. No wonder the terrorists think america is so sinful and should be destroyed. these useless little whores should not corrupt other people’s well brought up kids with their dirty habits and show.

Ill admit going to school and having a 8 month daughter and being pregnant is hard.
If you are not extremely strong not just physicly but more than anything meantally

Remember there’s plenty of time in the future to have kids just enjoy your childhood

I am a teen and i’m pregnant. Lindsey’s not kidding when she says you have to be both physicaly and mentally strong. You have to be very emotionally stable. It’s a non-stop roller coaster, I’m not very far along and the daddy and i are not dating. We’re good friends, but we’re not sure if there’s ever going to be a real relationship between us. He graduated this past year [2009] and i’m only a JR this year. I just turned 16 this summer, I’m a cheerleader and a star soccer player. I was very stupid and irresponsible to jeperdize that. Now i’m not sure what or how i’m going to get into college and i still have to get an every day job to help support the baby that i’m bringing into this world. The daddy is going to help but as of right now we have a lot to straighten out. Oh, and Hilda, if you’re so frigging negative about it, DON’T WATCH IT!!!! If kids want to HAVE to change every aspect of their life just to get on TV, that’s there choice. Not every teen that gets pregnant at such a young age is a whore either. So if you’re going to be so rude keep it to yourself, please.
well am 16 going on to 17 i got pregnant when i was 15 but had my kid when i was 16 at first i was with my babydaddy but now he just abanded me n my son n rather b with his friend its really hard being a teen mom you cant do the things you did it takes away your teenhood you have to be very strong cause it aint easy having a kid when you a teen even more when u dont have ur babydaddy around to help u…. so just enjoy ur teenhood then later on in life worry about having kids . . .
This show is trash. On MTV’s website for it, there is a section for CASTING. Whatever happened to not having sex, using a condom or giving the baby up for adoption? Sorry but no teen mother will give a child a better life than an adult could and many adults aren’t even capable of being good parents either. These teens are living off other people’s resources and are a leech to society. Having mommy and daddy help you doesn’t show the true cost for a babysitter, food, etc. Give the baby up for adoption! Stop keeping these babies when you’re a baby yourself. Try getting a puppy first before having a baby. They’re a lot of work. House breaking. Cleaning up if they go in the house. Preventing chewing on furniture, etc. Feeding. Giving water. Check ups. $6000 surgery for a bad hip on an 8 month old. Treats. Blankets. Toys. Heating. Shelter. Baths. Flea clean up and control. Training. Walking before going to work at 5 am. Making sure the pup is crate trained so there is no mess to clean up when you do get home from work. Walking pup after you get home and several times before bed. Walking pup before bed. Getting up in middle of night because pup has to go out or is sick. Worrying about puppy throwing up. You don’t want to lose her. Calling the vet because you think the pup is sick again. Paying more $ to take care of a bladder infection. The list goes on. I’ve had my puppy for 9 months and she’s cost me over $8,000 but she’s worth it. And she’s just a puppy. Babies are at least 10 times more work.

I understand that people will have negative views about this show, but the fact of the matter is that regardless if there’s a show about teen pregnancy or not, teen pregnancy is still happening and is still going to happen, so whats wrong with a show broadcasting it and giving teen girls a look at what life can be like if you don’t make the right decision and wait to have sex or at least use some form of contraceptive. Not that I agree with teen pregnancy, but I do enjoy watching this show. I cry with the girls when they go through tough times and I also say a little pray for them when needed. Bottom line, ladies keep your heads up and be the best moms you can be because you can’t take back whats already happened !!!!
