Colby Curtin Dies Of Vascular Cancer After Watching Movie ‘Up’ (Photo!)

colby-curtin-dies-of-vascular-cancer-photos

A 10 year-old girl named Colby Curtin, who was diagnosed with vascular cancer back in 2005, died just seven hours after being granted her final wish to watch Pixar’s new movie “Up”.

Colby had seen previews and was fascinated with the film, which tells the story of a grumpy old man who, after his wife’s death, tries to fulfill their joint dream of visiting South America by tying thousands of balloons to his house and floating away.

The 10 year-old was unfortunately too sick to go to the theater so a family friend called both Pixar and Disney, which owns the animation studio, and Pixar quickly sent an employee to Colby’s house with a DVD copy of the movie for a private screening.

The mom said, “When I watched it, I had really no idea about the content of the theme of the movie. I just know that word ‘Up’ and all of the balloons and I swear to you, for me it meant that (Colby) was going to go up. Up to heaven.” R.I.P. Colby!!

I had tears in my eyes while reading this. Not just for the sorrow that such a sweet, and beautiful little girl had to suffer and die so young, but also for the joy I felt reading that her last wish was granted thanks to the family friend and the people at Pixar that made that happen.
Having seen the movie recently (UP), I can tell you that I can understand why Colby’s mom felt the movie was so fitting for not only her daughter, but for her too. If anyone has not seen the movie, I highly recommend it. The message is so strong, as well as uplifting.
Again, I have to take my hat off to Pixar and the measures they took to make sure that Colby’s wish was granted. (its too bad that the hospice group that was asked to bring a wheel chair to the family home on June 4th so Colby could go to see movie in the theatres, did not do that much for Colby.)
But seeing how things worked out, I believe that it was meant for Pixar and their employee to make that trip and fulfill Colby’s last wish.
God Bless her and her family who are certainly going thru a very difficult time, but rest assured there are many praying for her and for you, including myself. To be certain, Colby is UP with the Lord, and is suffering no more.
Thanks again to Pixar and all those who made it possible for her to get her last wish.

When I read a story like this it truly tears me apart, Yes I do truley question the existence of God and ask why ? I suppose most would say IT IS GOD’S WILL, if so please place this little angel and all that I have prayed for and kept in my prayers to your immaculate compulation of angels by your side. For you are the Kingdome the Everlasting Light. Amen.

my deepest sympathy goes out to colby’s family at this very painful and difficult time in their lifes. When I read and saw the picture of colby I cried because I have lost my brother and have lost my mother who had cancer. I had to see her suffer through so much pain. It broke my heart that this precious 10 year old girl had to suffer and go through pain that no kid should have to go through. I know it doesn’t look like things will get better right now but in time it will. The pain and emptiness will never go away but at least know colby is in heaven smiling down at you guys watching over you and your family. My god be with you and my prayers go out to you and your family.
