A Spanish woman named Maria del Carmen Bousada, who became the world’s oldest mom when she gave birth at the age of 66 back in 2006, died on Saturday (July 11) and left her twin sons, Pau and Christian, orphaned. The 69 year-old mom was reportedly diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after giving birth.

Maria del Carmen lied about her age, saying she was 55 years old, before getting in vitro fertilization in a clinic in California because she believed she would live to at least 100 years since her mom had lived to be 101. “Yes, I am old of course, but if I live as long as my mom did, imagine, I could even have grandchildren,” she said.
