Brad Pitt Says God Doesn’t Exist
During an interview in German magazine Bild, actor Brad Pitt went on record as saying there is no God and that he is a combination of being atheist and agnostic.
BILD: Is your soul spiritual?
Brad Pitt: No, no, no! I’m probably 20 per cent atheist and 80 per cent agnostic. I don’t think anyone really knows. You’ll either find out or not when you get there, until then there’s no point thinking about it.
Well not too much to say here. I think you readers will have fun with the comments on this one.
I will just say that betting that there is not a God or afterlife is a HUGE bet that I am not willing to make. I choose to believe, and I do believe, but if I ever happened to be wrong, I would be no worse off than Mr. Pitt.
But I have a feeling if Brad is wrong, then he might find himself before God, and God saying, “I don’t believe I ever knew a Brad Pitt. Good bye, have a nice day!”

I was a really big fan of Brad Pitt’s until today. Anyone as stupid as he is doesn’t deserve all the blessings God has given him. I hope God shows Brad a few valleys in his life so that he finds out his money can’t make him or his family truely happy forever. You got your last ten dollars out of me.
Brad you should keep your mouth closed and let people presume your stupid, than to open it and releave all doubt
Great take on this one Joshua. I totally agree.
Like Blaise Pascal said “I rather believe and reap the rewards, than not and suffer the consequences”
I don’t think you can really choose what you believe. I’ve tried hard to believe that there is a God but I really don’t know and eventually I had to accept that. How can you know something that you have no evidence of?
I’m an athiest too, and I really doubt that if I’m wrong and there is a God, he’d be cool with me worshipping him just to hedge my bets. If you don’t believe in God, you don’t believe. Why pretend?
I don’t believe in Brad Pitt…so I really don’t care what he believes, I think he’s an *** I believe what I believe and I KNOW that there Is a God!
I believe he is receiving his glory on earth… the Glory belongs to God.. but fool people like him,, make him believe he is a god… come on!!!!!
“You’ll either find out or not when you get there, until then there’s no point thinking about it.” Stupid comment. Ever hear of faith? A comment this ignorant is why people should never listen to the opinions of celebrities.
what about Jesus. He said he is the son of God. It is either true or he is a liar. Chose this day which way to go. what good is it for a man to gain the world but lose his soul. We are the ones who have ruined this world. look at what has happen to kids in schools without God. We all need him. If I am wrong than I lose nothing but if you are wrong you lose life after. He gives us a free will to choose. God bless.
There’s so much disagreement among religious “experts” on things like the nature of the afterlife and even the nature of God, that it’s no wonder many people choose to focus on the current life. This life is the one we are sure we have, and a lot of time is wasted arguing about the unknowable and possibly nonexistent next life. (That’s a long way to say I agree with Pitt.)
I totally agree with you, Joshua.
I don’t think I will ever be able to look at Brad Pitt the same way again.
I believe and I am glad that when I stand before God, He will he knows me too……The future is bright.
One more point …. The headline writer is incorrect (unintentionally misleading?) when he says Brad Pitt asserted God doesn’t exist. Pitt never said that. He quite emphatically said he doesn’t know, and won’t know until the afterlife assuming there is one.
Pitt also said he’s 80% agnostic. The word “agnostic” means “without knowledge of” in the original language. In reality, whether or not you are a believer, we’re all agnostic in the sense we cannot prove the existence of God, no matter how much insight or inexperience we have. That’s where faith comes in for believers, and reason comes into play for non-believers.
This is silly. How do you that when you die, you’ll meet the Christian God? You are making it seem as if there is either the Christian God (your belief) or there is nothing (Brad’s belief) and that’s the only 2 beliefs. When in reality, there are 10,000 other Gods who say that if you don’t believe in them, they’ll punish you after you die. The odds aren’t 50/50 that you’re right, they are more like 1/10000 that you’re right. Plus, Brad should be saluted for being honest, I’d imagine God (if there is one) would be more delighted in meeting Brad than meeting a Christian who only believed because he thought he’d be hedging his bets or covering his behind.
no one really cares.
we are all god. once everyone wakes up to the truth of that…then we can move beyond all this blind faith crap. until then, we’ll remain divided and separated in our thought and actions and continue to stray further and further away from our true potential.
[...] Brad Pitt Doesn’t Believe in God – honestly, who cares? Here’s the original interview in Bild [...]
If Brad Pitt should stand before an almighty one day…the almighty will probably say, “Hey, thanks for your help in New Oleans, that global warming is a piece of crap to manage. I was so busy with AIDS, and famine and whatnot. There is not enough “doers” on earth. I get so many prayers, but no back up. You know what I mean? I understand how you could feel like I wasn’t there. Your a good guy. Come on in and we’ll talk. We’ll work this eternal life thing out.”
God is alive but for someone who has everything money can buy is hard to see the truth as he is blinded by materialim and fans worshippers. I’m so glad Jennifer is no longer married to him.
Lemmings, keep trying to convince yourself.
Brad pitt, just another phoney. The people from make believe really don’t have a clue, and then tell us who is the best choice for the country. I can’t believe some woman actually wants him as mayor in New Orleans, He would be so much worse then what they have now, and that is bad enough for those people down there.
Hey ksme, does it have to be a christian GOD. Every religion says that there is only one GOD. Noone has ever said that GOD is christian, jewish,or muslim. Get it straight. GBut people for thousands of years have believed, so there just may be something to their belief. Ever think of that. Just because you cannot see or touch something does not mean it does not exist. They just uncoverd the face of an Angel, in a cathedral that was built in what 597(?) BC… Think about that
“I don’t believe in Brad Pitt…so I really don’t care what he believes, I think he’s an *** I believe what I believe and I KNOW that there Is a God!”
that is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard.
Thank you
“He gives us a free will to choose.”
free will to call you a douchebag
Hedging your bet just in case there is a god puts you in the position of supporting religion. Think about it for a second. What is the main cause of murder and suffering in this world? Religion. We like to think Muslims are the only religious fanatics, but Christians are no better. Devout followers of any religion believe they have the only key to the truth and either need to push their belief on you, force it, or even worse, kill you if you don’t follow their truths in the belief they are doing something good for you.
Stop for one second and think of a child going to sleep tonight terrified they will burn in hell forever because Mommy told them bad people go to hell. Then realize that no one is perfect and children all over the world have to suffer this every night.
Hedge your bets all you want and think you’re not doing any harm. Meanwhile the world suffers.
Personally i don’t believe in a god, I don’t really want to believe your whole life here is just a test to see if you were good enough.
But i respect that everyone else has different opinions and i’m obviously not going to force mine on other people.
I just wanna give you something to think about, like what ksme said.
There are many different religions out there, and even if you are believing in one of them who’s to say who’s right or who’s wrong, it’s not just about whether there’s a god, or not.
If you believe in one, what if it’s another god exists that isn’t yours.
On top of that which god would you have believed in if you were born in another part of the world?
If you’re believing in one god, your basically condemning a large part of the rest of the worlds population.
SOOOO I’ve decided, against choosing anyone, and say that this is it.
That’s just my long strung opinion. If you don’t like it don’t read it, and if you feel you have to say something to me, make it thoughtful, not the “GOD WILL SMITE YOU! SINNER!” or “I hope god saves you.”
Thanks for your time.
Heaven help us. And people look up to this guy? How dare he blaspheme in the face of Jesus after all He has done for him!
Dear Brad Pitt,
Guess what?
Jesus loves you! He really does! Don’t deny Him, He wants to have a relationship with all of us! Please understand, there is nothing we can EVER do in this lifetime that will measure up to Jesus’ sacrifice. If just being a good person was enough, then there would have been no point for Jesus to die as He did. Please don’t sell yourself short of the wonderful life He is waiting to give you. All you have to do is ask Him to come into your heart. He doesn’t care what you have done, He doesn’t care if you are a hot mess…turn your life over to Him and He will make it worth the while! Trust me, I know!
omfg if there is or isnt a god you shouldnt judge someone over it. respect their beliefs and faith or lack there of. If there is a loving god than he will understand pitt’s reasons for doubt and forgive him then. you all make god seem to be as bad as satan himself unless you follow him. aka thats were a controling relationship is fro, ha. you guys get over urselves. if god loves us so much he will forgive our short comings and doubts as most of us have a reason to doubt.
now im not saying i believe or i dont. i think there may be a god. but i do not follow any organized religion because there is no point to it.
I respect Brad now, he isnt some Religious Deluded fool that beleives in a fantasy that simply doesnt exist
The fool has said in his heart there is no God…If you believe the Bible to be the word of God then you also believe that Jesus is (the way, the truth, and the life) and that NO MAN cometh to the Father but by him…and even creation itself proves to us there is a God…..
God Bless
BlowJob,
Quoting a book doesn’t make you smart. Especially one with plot holes
Theists, atheists, and agnostics just show their ignorance when they talk about believing or not believing in God.
It is irrational to say that you believe in the existence of THIS chair. The chair exists whether you believe in it or not. Does the chair disappear if you refuse to believe in it?
If you want to know whether God, a leprechaun, or Big Foot exists, you just need to define the word ‘exist’. And there is certainly no provision for faith or wisdom in the definition of exist. The mathematicians and philosophers never discovered this simple reasoning in the last 10,000 years. That’s why theists, atheists, and agnostics will continue to debate the existence of God until the end of time. They don’t know what the word exist means!

People have a right to their opinion, and what they believe, no one should condemn a person for believing or not believing….It’s one thing to not believe , but to throw your opinion out there and offend others who do, and think that oh since it’s a free country you can say what you want..there is a little thing called respect, and most people in this world obviously don’t know what that is….
And its not about hedging any bets, .. but if you believe and find out that you were wrong, big deal, … to not believe and find out you were wrong, there will be a lot to pay….and its not as if they are all pretending to save their asses, because God already knows his people, …
If he created this world, and all that is in it, don’t you think he knows how and what you think…
pretenders wont get away with anything…
People can believe what they want, their are two options.., to believe or not to believe,…Ksme, why would you think God would be delighted in meeting Brad..ha, he is nothing…he might make movies, i don’t even like the poor fella….. I live in NYC and i see celebs every damn weekend i go out to Manhattan…who gives a flying rats ass that he is brad pitt..the lord will be delighted to meet anyone who truly believes in him, not some boring ass man who acts..God is not star struck….are you kidding me…gosh, some of you people are just soo ridiculous..
The Omniverse is 387 Billion-Trillion years old. It’s so old that even God has begun to grow a beard and has a potgut. Jesus is in a rehab sanitarium is some unknown remote corner of the Omni. He has developed serious neurosis from trying to save untold trillions of lost souls throughout these 387 Billion-Trillion years. He also suffers from acute prayer-response fever and chronic rosary and pope-aria syndromes, among other Christ-dependancy related deseases. Just the mere sight or mention of any of his grovely, beggardly followers (who forever seek his favors and forgivenesses)causes Jesus to fly into galaxy-destroying rages of light-year proportions. Nebulas that have been caused by his psychotic eruptions are strewn throughout the Omniverse, as constant reminders.
So, caution dictates: Don’t go there! Don’t ask Jesus for anything; He has closed up shop for good!
I just wrote the above. It is just as valid as that which some dude wrote an astronomical minute ago; TO WIT: “In the beginning Gods (“Elohim” is plural) created the heaven and the earth. … and Gods said, ‘Let US make man in OUR image, … etc., etc.” Why can’t I dream as well as that dude?
What did he know that I don’t? In fact, is not my modern knowledge-base much better than his primitive Iron-Age reasoning that led him to such naive assumptions as the mythogies of Genesis?
This will still hold true when the Omniverse clicks past the 400 Billion-Trillion year mark, & beyond.
i completely believe the way brad pitt does.
its all just natural selection, death goes too far back to believe that one day god will come all of a sudden and rescue us all.
God doesn’t exist. Face it. Embrace it. Live in religious freedom.
I find it laughable that the person who wrote this is still using Pascal’s wager as a means to reassure themselves that they’ll get a nice, lofty seat with the imaginary sky daddy.
If God really does exist, would he/she judge someone who only believes out of fear of eternal damnation, or someone who’s honest and skeptical about God’s existence?
I’m sure God would be more sympathetic to the individual who is openly skeptical, than to someone who believes just for emotional comfort.
So you’re willing to place your bet just in case, huh? Well, I think if there was a god (and thankfully, there probably isn’t), then he’d probably be able to see through your facade.
And also, by placing your bet on the existence of God, and whether he’ll reward or punish, you’re also assuming that he/she rewards people based solely on belief rather than individual action.
Either God is malevolent and wants fear-based adoration, or the entire story of God and the Bible is complete nonsense, which have been made up by uneducated, desert nomads.
Why would you believe in a god who casts people away who didn’t see enough evidence of her/his existence? What a vengeful, petty god that would be. If I were to believe in a god, it would be a MUCH more loving, gentle, understanding and compassionate god than that.
Well, the Bible is a bit contradictory in its regard towards what God’s true personality is like.
That’s why most people don’t believe it.
Some chapters say he’s compassionate, loving, forgiving, etc., but the other chapters seem to imply that’s he angry, childish and, well, just a tyrannical bully.
So, people pick and choose what they want their god’s personality to be and act according to it.
The only rational way to deal with the God question is to cast aside all superstitious dogma and look at it through a deist perspective. A God who stays out of the affairs of human beings and remains separate from all human thought and action would make much more sense. But even deistic thought has certain limitations such as infinite regression: “Who created the Creator? Who created the Creator’s Creator?”
I mean, don’t get me wrong, people can believe whatever they want, but like the wise George Carlin once said, “Keep thy religion to thyself.”
