Big Papi and Manny Tested Positive for Roids in 2003
ESPN is reporting that Manny Ramirez and David ‘Big Papi’ Ortiz tested positive for roids (performance enhancing drugs) back in 2003 according to a classified Major League Baseball testing report. The classified list was suppose to be confidential and used only to decide if there should be steroid testing in baseball, which was enacted the following year.
On Thursday, before the Red Sox-Athletics game at Fenway Park, when Ortiz was asked about the 2003 drug test, he told The Times: “I’m not talking about that anymore,” he said. “I have no comment.”
Ramirez was suspended 50 games this year for violating MLB’s drug testing policy. Ortiz had been very loud in his denials about steroid use before this was leaked today.
Other names to be leaked off the 2003 list have been Alex Rodriguez, Sammy Sosa and now Ramirez and Ortiz.
