Sarah Palin Quits, Not Running For Reelection In 2010

sarah palin

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has just announced she will resign at the end of this month and will not run for a second term as Governor in 2010. The Governor, who was Sen. John McCain’s vice presidential candidate last year, will transfer power to Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell.

Sarah Palin via Twitter: “We’ll soon attach info on decision to not seek re-election… this is in Alaska’s best interest, my family’s happy… it is good, stay tuned.” This retirement announcement is taken as a step up for a potential run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012. However, a source close to Palin said that she is “out of politics for good.”

Movies Opening Today (July 3, 2009)

Movie Poster - Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs – (PG) The sub zero heroes are back. Scrat is still trying to nab the ever elusive nut, while maybe finding true love. Manny and Ellie await the birth of their mini-mammoth. Diego the saber toothed tiger wonders if he’s growing too soft and Sid the sloth gets into trouble when he creates his own makeshift family by hijacking some dinosaur eggs. On a mission to rescue the hapless Sid, the gang ventures into a mysterious underground world, where they have some close encounters with dinosaurs, battle flora and fauna, run amuck and meet a relentless, one eyed, dino-hunting weasel named Buck.

Public Enemies – (R) No one could stop John Dillinger and his gang. No jail could hold him. His charm and audacious jailbreaks endeared him to almost everyone — from his girlfriend Billie Frechette to an American public who had no sympathy for the banks that had plunged the country into the Depression. But while the adventures of Dillinger’ gang — later including Baby Face Nelson and Alvin Karpis — thrilled many, J. Edgar Hoover made Dillinger America’s first Public Enemy Number One and sent in Melvin Purvis, the dashing “Clark Gable of the FBI.” However, Dillinger and his gang outwitted and outgunned Purvis’ men in wild chases and shootouts. Only after importing a crew of Western ex-lawmen (newly baptized as agents) and orchestrating epic betrayals — from the infamous “Lady in Red” to the Chicago crime boss Frank Nitti — were Purvis, the FBI and their new crew of gunfighters able to close in on Dillinger.

The Girl From Monaco – (R) A brilliant and neurotic attorney goes to Monaco to defend a famous criminal. But, instead of focusing on the case, he falls for a beautiful she-devil, who turns him into a complete wreck. Hopefully, his zealous bodyguard will step in and put everything back in order. Or will he?

I Hate Valentine’s Day – (PG-13) Meet Genevieve. She loves romance. She loves flowers. She loves Valentine’s Day. All of which is fitting as the owner of “Roses for Romance,” a quaint flower shop in the heart of a friendly Brooklyn, NY neighborhood. Her one problem is that she hates relationships. Having been hurt numerous times in the past when it comes to matters of the heart, Genevieve keeps herself happy by not letting any one man in. Dating is a game to her, a game she is very good at. Genevieve doesn’t get dumped and never gets hurt because she doesn’t stick around long enough for things to get ugly. Then she meets Greg.

Lion’s Den – (NR) Tells of an ill-fated and beautiful woman who kills her two lovers and later gives birth to a son in prison. She then trys to raise her son behind bars.

Local Color – (R) A successful artist looks back with loving memories on the summer of his defining year, 1974. A talented, but troubled eighteen year old art student befriends an elderly alcoholic genius painter who has turned his back on not only art, but life. The two form what appears to be at first a tenuous relationship. The kid wants to learn all the secrets the master has locked away inside his head and heart. Time has not been kind to the old master. His life appears pointless to him until the kid rekindles his interest in his work and ultimately gives him the will to live. Together, they give one another a priceless gift. The kid learns to see the world through the master’s eyes. And the master learns to see life through the eyes of innocence again.

David & Victoria Beckham Emporio Armani Underwear Ads

david-and-victoria-beckham-emporio-armani-ads-photos

David Beckham and Victoria Beckham, who have been married for ten years (they celebrate their tenth anniversary on July 4th), posed together in nothing but their sexy Emporio Armani underwear for the brand’s new Autumn/Winter 09/10 advertising campaign.

The couple has already posed for Armani ads separately (Victoria Beckham sexy Armani ads, David Beckham sexy Armani ads) but these are definitely the best. Maybe they should be looking at each other instead of appearing to be so emotionally detached, however these ads are supposed to be about the underwear…

shannon-price-mugshot

Gary Coleman’s wife, Shannon Price, was arrested for domestic violence and disorderly conduct in Santaquin, Utah on Wednesday night (July 1). Shannon, who apparently thrashed a room at their home but did not lay a hand on Gary, was booked for two misdemeanors and released on a $1,205 bail.

Shannon was not happy with how her husband treated her and when cops arrived she was still livid. Shannon “yelled and called officer ‘f***er’ and told officer ‘f**k you and f**k him several times.” Oh, true love is beautiful!

Los Angeles Lakers Sign Ron Artest

Ron Artest Signs with Lakers

Ron Artest has signed a mid-level exception to play for the Los Angeles Lakers. Artest will receive $18 million over three years.

Artest is a skilled enforcer that mixed it up with Lakers star Kobe Bryant on multiple occassions during the 2009 NBA Playoffs. He will add an extra toughness as the Lakers try to defend their championship.

This comes on the day we learned that the Lakers weren’t interesting in giving forward Trevor Ariza more than the same mid-level exception.  Ariza has signed a new deal to play with the Houston Rockets.

So basically the Rockets traded Artest to the Lakers for Ariza.  Perhaps it will be a win-win for both, but for now I am going to chalk this one up as an advantage to the Lakers.

The Cleveland Cavaliers were also interested in signing Artest.
