Trina Thompson, Unemployed Sues College For Tuition

A 27 year-old woman from New York City, Trina Thompson, is suing the Monroe College, where she got her bachelor’s degree in information technology, because she can’t find a job accusing Monroe’s Office of Career Advancement for not providing her with the leads and career advice it promised.

Monroe College spokesman Gary Axelbank said, “The lawsuit is completely without merit. The college prides itself on the excellent career-development support that we provide to each of our students, and this case does not deserve further consideration.”

Trina, who lives with her mother Carol Thompson, is seeking the $70,000 she spent on tuition. The family is going through a difficult time and Trina’s student loans are coming due. The mother Carol says, “We’re going to be homeless, and we’ll still have a student loan to pay.”

I am sure it has always been human nature to try and escape one’s own responsibility when making decisions that you have to live with. Obviously, her University education didn’t teach her anything about who is responsible for what. I am surprised that her majored wasn’t psychology or sociology, the two fields where their product is a victim with loads of resentments. I am sorry for her condition, but finding out what she got for her tuition may be her best education for her future life.

If she was un-employable before she certainly is now. Would you hire someone who sues at the drop of a hat? Someone who looks to fault others for their own shortcomings? That’s entitlement. There are no guarantees expressed or implied in this world!!

This woman is clearly the most ignorant college graduate I’ve ever heard of. I have lots of friends that have graduated fairly recently and don’t have a job in their field yet. Has she maybe seen the news in the past year? Maybe seen how many people with years of experience are being laid off? And it isn’t like she had an amazing GPA either. This is just another example of someone trying to milk the system. Guess what lady? Life isn’t always fair! Shut up and make the best of it.

Un-blanking-believable. This is the trash that bogs down our legal system for which we all have to pay. Yet, I guess we shouldn’t be so shocked that some pathetic individual would blame someone else because they can’t get a job. Give me a break. There should be harsh penalties for anyone that files suits like this.

Hey can we make this a class action thing? I just blew $80k at NYU for a useless piece of paper.

In this day and age college kids need to really plan for their future. One must do serious market research in terms of which college education is really going to help you land a job. Not which profession you really like and would make you presumably “very happy”. In other words, which job is currently in short supply of workers and of these jobs, which are chronically in short of workers. Then you get the college education you need to fill these jobs that are chronically short of workers. The reality is the value of your education is whether you are happy to have the piece of paper that says you are what you have finished but the value of it is whether you can find a job which will make you earn a living, support yourself and hopefully your own family and be able to help the community at the same time. We are in short supply of nurses, primary care physicians, teachers, to name a few.

How about you take courses that mean something. You get crappy degrees like Underwater Basketweaving, and Art Deco and then wonder why you can’t find a job. Well I am not surprised. I will offer you a little advice though. Taco Bell is hiring right now. They are looking for motivated individuals for employment and management oppurtunities. Oh yeah they want motivated people, well better luck next time.

That’s hilarious. On what grounds is she suing the college if she is not personally employable?

I can’t believe it – it’s so ridiculous. Blaming everybody else for your own failures seems to be the new most popular sport in many countries. But taking it to the court? That’s simply unbelievable…

      One question

If you owned a business And you had an opening and found out that this woman sued her college….

      WOULD YOU HIRE HER?
